I read this piece of text in a Marilyn Manson interview:

Wandering around Kennedy’s pad, filled with industry bigwigs and other musicians, it’s clear Marilyn’s not comfortable. "Look, there’s J Mascis," he says, pointing out the Dinosaur Jr. frontman, "we should kill him."

I remember reading somewhere that J did a festival show in Europe, and Marilyn Manson was on the bill. It might have been the Koln show in Germany, I think it’s called the Bizarre Festival. In the article, J mentions that he had met Marilyn Manson, and that he was pretty cool. J went on to say that the members of Metallica were basically arrogant.

J didn’t say it so politely in the article. I just didn’t think it would be right to say J had said something bad about somebody, if I wasn’t actually using quotes. I’ll try to see if I can find the article, so I could actually post what J said about Manson and Metallica.

                  Hey Tom,

One of my fav J quotes is "anything metallica is against I’m all for" I think it was in the context of napster but think it pretty much can be generalized across all areas of life

I’d like to see a FreakScene Deathmatch with manson and that little drummer boy lars against J and Watt…only in cartoon vision of course My money is on The Fog guys

Valentine Frankenstein, That is a great J quote. It’s funny, I was just listening to the Hydromatics tune that you sent me on Audiogalaxy, when you wrote that post. I can’t get that song out of my head. Thanks, Tom

oh well, metallica still remains a favorite band of mine. Mr. Manson could be done without though…. i think satanism is really stupid… any religion for that matter, but satanism tops them all as the stupidist…. jsut my twenty cents… by the way, how old is J?

…definitely with you concerning the stupidity of satanism

                        J was born on 10th December 1965, therefore he’s 37 :)

haven’t read the whole interview but I doubt that Manson meant anything against J as a person or his music. Its more like just saying he recognizes him.
