If you could pick the set list for a J show, (full band and they would actually play what you wanted them to) what would it be?
Of course I would go with like, Out There, Alone, Chunks, Outa Hand, Just Like Heaven, Little Furry Things, Blowing it/I live for that look, Keep the Glove, In a Jar, More Light, Gotta Know……not in that particular order.

GREEN MIND !!!!February 13, 2002 at 6:58 pm #53811yo.
Not to be negative, but I sometimes wish that J had a extra guitarist with him on stage while playing solos on most dino tunes. When listening to a live recording I sometimes think how better it would sound to most people playing a guitar solo with a rythm guitar/ in the background.
when I recorded my band playing BLOWING IT/I LIVE FOR THAT LOOK it sounded more complete and whole with that extra guitar playing under the solo. Don’t get me wrong I love J playing his songs as a trio, especially the rollingstone session version of blowing it/I live for that look
In my mind this killer recording has a better soundshape than the original on green mind. The drums are too central in the soundscape on the studioversion. too much drumsound and too little guitar sound. I also prefer a more tighter drumsound than the "reverb drums" on green mind.Anyway, I hope J tours europe this summer. He’s welcome in norway
February 14, 2002 at 1:16 pm #53812Well after giving it some thought my custom set list would actually be about three hours Have to add a couple songs to my list above…
The more jammage version of Puke & Cry
Never Bought ItAllison
February 14, 2002 at 1:30 pm #53813yeah you’re right the "more jammage" puke and cry and BLOWING IT I LIVE FOR THAT LOOK is a MUST !
February 14, 2002 at 3:33 pm #53814I think my final set list would be long as well and would have many of the songs already listed, however I have a twist to his preformance of songs that I think would be really cool. Please let me know if you think the same.
During the middle of his set the stage lights go out and when they come back up J is in a chair with his acoustic guitar ready to play. Then we get to hear the following songs….
Get me
Drawings
Amma Ring – with an extra distorted sound since he has all his guitar rig to work from for effects.
Wagon
Leaving on a Jet Plan – which J encourages the audience to sing the chorus while he is playing.I just think it would be cool and diff. to the norm.
February 14, 2002 at 4:21 pm #53815Ok I have an extra revision and addition to my set list. This would also be super cool!!! Check it out….
For the song "Get Me" which J plays acoustic as mentioned before, as a guest apperance J is joined by TIFFANY ANDERS who sang backing vocals on the original version of the song and who I think has a great voice and sounds great with J. I would also have her join J later in the set when he would play "Take a Run at The Sun" so she can cover backing vocals as well.
February 14, 2002 at 5:41 pm #53816well guys and gals, the shows coming up are going to be great. i have confirmation the philly show will have no drums, and no bass. i can only picture that 160 meg .asf that floated around for awhile. i’d be pretty pleased to see that show live
February 14, 2002 at 7:32 pm #53817Chris I love the idea of an acoutic set with Tiffany Anders doing back up vocals…sounds very cool!!! I would add the song Too Hard to your list, beautiful song.
Simmons your not alone in thinking J would sound better with another guitar player, think that discussion came up on the 1st leg of The More Light Tour. Not everyone agrees, but hey I gotta say I enjoyed when Ron Asheton and J played together…what I’ve heard anyways sounded absolutely amazing!!! I love the drums on Green Mind though
Allison
ps simmons my vote is in for J at that festival…good luck with that
