      From the new ‘Total Guitar’…

"Three years after he closed down his old band Dinosaur Jr, J Mascis has emerged with backing band The Fog to sound… well, exactly like Dinosaur Jr always did, actually. Not that this is necessarily a problem. Dinosaur were a truly original band who, along with the Pixies, deserve to be credited with inventing grunge. Those inimitable J solos and shameless blasts of feedback are still firmly in check, as tracks like Waistin, Back Before You Go and Ammaring beguilingly demonstrate. You’ve gotta hand it to him: J’s still got it. Oh, and listen out for Primal Scream/My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shelds on the album, too… FOUR STARS (out of five)"
