Does anyone tried the new version off EH’ big muff (American reissue) ? I’ve still have the black one (Russian, with Yellow print). Can somebody explain me the differences between the two and why the new one is much more expensive ?

Wow! Thanks for that post; I’ve been looking on eBay for a US Big Muff. I didn’t realise it had been reissued.

I’ve got the same black/yellow version as you. I love it, although I haven’t had a chance to compare it to a real US one. I think the Russion one sounds good, but I’ve had problems with the footswitch being a bit unreliable (sometimes the effect switches on, but the output volumes goes really low).

I’m going to order one (assuming they’re available in the UK). I’ll post a comparison when I get it.

Same problem here… My footswitch is is bad shape also. The sound is OK, but I’m really curious about the new one…. If it sounds better, maybe I can trade in my old one.

Apparantly the new u.s made big muff sounds exactly like the original… although this would probably be the second issue from the 70’s, thats what it looks like cosmetically.
Also the original transistors used in very early muffs are no longer available so replacements that are used dont sound exactly the same…
i’ve played with all of the muffs trying to get the best sounding one, its the first issue and i built myself one that sounds very close to it, much better than the russian one.

And for all us guitar players in the u.k that really pissed me off !!! a guy i know recently found an issue 1 big muff imaculate condition in box with manual and everything at a bric a brac fair… he payed £6 for it….
