what is everybody’s (not EVERYbody’s) problem with Green Mind, i think it’s amazing, with songs like Water, Thumb, Green Mind, The Wagon and Flying cloud i think it’s up there with the best. For me, there isn’t a bad song on it.
I mean, people are entitled to their own opinions but i was just wondering why so many people dislike it?
‘By the shore-line,
will you be fine?’October 10, 2000 at 10:46 pm #56687For real. It’s always been one of my favorites. Not to mention a college radio friggin smash! I agree, not a bad song. But alas, I also agree, everyone’s got an opinion. About pretty much everything.

October 20, 2000 at 8:55 am #56688I totally agree. The album is great. The Wagon is a masterpiece as good as any. And there are lots of other good songs on it.
And when the day ended we were all happy. It had been fun and prizes for everyone.October 20, 2000 at 10:25 am #56689I think its because its such a drastic change from the previous DInosaur Jr albums which where all hard rocking and had a completly different sound, those like me who loved there old sound, loved the old albums more, even Green Mind is a really good album but, its not the dinosaur Jr of old

Charles MansonNovember 10, 2000 at 5:51 pm #56690I love Green Mind
the Wagon got it all started for me. Theumb is so good in any situation Water It is great every time I had trouble in Tony Hawk I just put that Disc on to calm me and it always came through
Not doing that fineNovember 15, 2000 at 7:03 am #56691It was year -92 when I first time heard Dinosaur jr song Wagon and soon after that I bought a Green Mind album. It was like a kick in the face. Since that day I’ve heard all the Dinosaur jr and J albums numerous times and I love them all but it was Green Mind that was my first love with J’s music and in my alltime favorite albums chart it’s still number one and I guess it allways will be.

September 29, 2001 at 4:07 pm #56694no beef with green mind here…in fact I quite love it…check out my reply to tony(deepsludge) in the lyrics section for my view of WATER
September 29, 2001 at 4:36 pm #56695Green Mind started things for me too, specifically Puke +Cry. Agree on solos and lyrics. Ten years later, I am still finding new things to relate them to. Thanks ta yawll, I have a better conceptual vision of what he gets at in a lot of the songs and also how sometimes J’s lyrics can be approached and understood from multiple angles. Thanks a’gin to FreakScene.

September 29, 2001 at 6:46 pm #56698Of the albums where the artist is listed as Dinosaur Jr., Green Mind is my favorite album.
September 30, 2001 at 2:02 am #56699Just wanted to reactivate this topic, what does everyone think of Green Mind now? Particularly since there are so many more members now than when this was posted first.
I got it yesterday and my first impression was that the production sounded to me like Bug, I notice both were made at Fort Apache North.
Like to know more from you guys, particularly the great Salamiguy.
September 30, 2001 at 2:36 am #56700Here’s a few reasons why I love Green Mind so much:
The cover photo
The wicked songs (most of them simple enough to figure out the chords to in no time)
The lyrics (J at his best, IMHO)
The guitar sound (mellow, but with claws that shreds)
The maximum kick ass sabre-toothed solos
The wicked backing vocals that I’ve often missed so much in the later Dino albums
The way Blowing It rolls over into I live for that look -
