so it seems that a lot of you have bought this compilation. i’m assuming you already have most of or all of the regualr dinosaur albums, so i’m just sort of at as loss as to why you would want EBC. maybe you just want a mix of the songs all on one cd? but shit, it doesn’t even have ‘raisans’ on it. if you just want j to make some money off it, you’d be better off writing him a personal check for 15 bucks. well, just curious…

collecter’s item…
A lot of the people here have a lot of J’s stuff. I think one or two probably have every single thing that he/Dino ever released. For some of us, who live in the middle of nowhere, J’s stuff is really hard to come by, so it’s kind of nice to get your hands on whatever you can. As you’ve probably noticed, a lot of these people are the real hardcore fans. So, if it has J’s name on it, GRAB IT!

Well, the reason I bought it is quite simple: I have nearly all the Dinosaur Jr. albums and singles, but most of it is on vinyl, and all that stuff is at my home. The last couple of years I’ve been working far from home most of the time, spending lots of time traveling or staying in hotels, so I’m always taking my cd-walkman with me, but unfortunately that doesn’t play the Dinosaur vinyl stuff

So, a big thank you to Rhino Records for this excellent compilation, it’s an excellent way to stay awake during the two-hour train-ride to Amsterdam every week, don’t know what the other people in the first-class-compartment think of it though…. Well I don’t think Buckingham’s question was dumb at all. Sure it’s a nice compilation and everything, but I couldn’t really see what the big fuzz on these boards was about when it was released. Those are some amazing tunes, but for sure most people here already have them all. I did buy it though, couldn’t resist the cool cover art

I bought it because I will buy anything that j plays on. I even bought the damn Tony Bennet unplugged becasue I heard J played on it. Turns out J’s concert with Tony didn’t make the cd, so that was a huge waste of money.
I was excited to read what was in the cd. Greatest hits cds usually have a decent write up about the band, and I really wanted to read what was in the cd.
I agree, Raisans should’ve been on the disc. That’s my favorite Dino tune. I also think What Else Is New should’ve made the disc.

Yeah I heard that too, and sat tight waiting for J to appear when the thing was shown on MTV. Turns out J had been cut out, right. What the fuck.

I bought EBC, because Allison said so
no, seriously, I appreciate the compilation for containing songs I didn’t have on CD yet, like ‘Take a run at the sun’.

Hey,

I bought it for the same reason Flying Cloud picked it up J/K…I never really follow my own advice

I bought it primarily for the reason Kurticus outlined…the Grab It deal, buying anything J puts out…even when I already have all the songs. I even bought that rock J was selling in Gas Food & Lodging off ebay…there is an english guy out there who thinks he has the original…not, mine has been authenticated

I also take discs with me on the go…discman and car etc so with all those songs on one disc I can reduce the number I have to bring with me. The cover art is something I always enjoy and this one definitely didn’t let me down…very cool. Den Buck Turnipfarmer made a conversion on a train when listening to some Dinosaur Jron his discman…so keep your eyes open it may be happening already

A few people put what tracks they would like to see on a best of, some wise guy said it would have to be a boxed set to fit all the great tunes on it…I definitely agree. So if you want to add your list…

It`s a good choice of songs even though alot of good ones got left off,it`s also good to have around to give to other people who have`nt been converted to Dino fans yet.

well, some of you have given understandable reasons for buying it. though, i don’t really see why you would need it even if you want every track ever recorded by j. these are not new tracks. i’d rather spend the money on music i don’t already have elsewhere. i used to think like that and want everything he touched, but i am not that hardcore anymore. i have ‘martin and me’ but not ‘more light.’ and to be honest, i have no real intention of buying it. from what i’ve heard of it, its not that great. kind of like ‘without a sound’. i’m probably committing sacrilige here, and you will all hunt me down and burn me at the stake.

while i’m at it, i might as well confess another sin: the last two times j was in san francisco i did not go. one was an acoustic show at a small club, the other was the ‘more light’ tour. i regret not going now, but i guess i just figured he would play too much of the new album. i did, however, go see him play a free acoustic show at one of our record stores. at least i’m not all bad.

Not .. that .. great ?!

Hey, it has some unfuckingbelievably amazing tunes on it, like Sameday, Where’d you go, Ammaring and I’m not fine. If you’ve heard any of those and still go "not that great", well sorry, then you’re either a zombie, in a coma, or just need to do some more listening cuz you obviously don’t know what you’re missing out on.

hey, i’m entitled to my opinion. no doubt you like some things that i think are utter crap and vice versa. plus, i never said every song on the album sucked. as a whole, it just hasn’t motivated me to buy it. and that’s that.

Hey Buckingham Rabbit,

I think you really oughta give More Light a try, like Max said there are some wicked songs on it…Does the Kiss Fit, More Light…wickedly sonic song, Ammaring…if only for the solo etc etc. You never know it might just surprise you…in a good way

I know what your saying about having all the songs etc, I just buy everything he puts out…that I can find…madness…probably. Actually I have 3 copies of More Light, american release, dutch release as an extra single came with it and I won an autographed vinyl copy…gotta love that. Doesn’t really stop me from buying other music…still do plenty of that!!!

Did you miss the show with Ron Asheton…that has gotta hurt, I won tickets to that but only found out the nite b4 so couldn’t attend. From the sounds of it I missed an incredible show. Think someone has some pics up here of that show under the J tour deal.

Allison

ps I was able to resist the temptation to order the Japanese release of More Light for that cd single deal…so far

I bought that album cuz I want to have every album of Dinosaur Jr + its a wonderfull album
Miss some great tunes like Water + Alone but I cant get all I want

U must give "More Light" a 2nd change
Its a great album except for 1 song (U all know what song )

C Ya
