There is this Canadian chick, Emm Gryner, who just put out a record of Piano Ballad cover of some cool and not so cool songs. Mixed results but worth listening just for disbelief. Including Waiting room(fugazi), for what reason(death cab for cutie), big bang baby(STP), song 2(blur), crazy train, etc.
