is there one band that u think no-one else knows, and they should get listened to by more Dino fans; post here the band name and why we’d love them so much…
Remy Zero are a band i feel r underrated; their album Villa Elaine is beautiful and the intense songs are well structured and bring a tear to your eye. It takes many listens to be able to totally appreciate their music, a sign of a good band. their music is, kinda, light rock but in a good sense. i think everyone should buy Villa Elaine and give it a chance, it was after about a year of owning it that i realised the extent of talent… [img]images/smiles/converted/14.gif[/img]
One band i`ve been impressed with lately is Atombombpocketknife from Chicago.They call they`re music unrock,They are definitely in a Sonic Youth/Dinosaur jr mold,the singer sounds quite alot like Thurston Moore,I don`t think he`s trying to but some singers sound alike by coincidence,you know like Will Oldham and Jason Molina.Anyway check out Atombombpocketknife,they`re on southern records.
A few friends of mine have a band called the Accidents. They are a punk band that I think at least some of you would like.

VERSUS-has anybody here heard of them?I`ve been here for 4 months and I think I`m the only one who mentions them,like to know if someone else has heard of them and likes them.They sound like Pavement/Yo La Tengo/Sonic Youth/Seam.
Silkworm are a great band,I bought a cd by them recently,told Freak about them,have 3 of their albums and they`re all awesome.
check out their Wet Firecracker video at launch.comDon’t know how "rare" this is, but John Frusiante’s solo albums are NOTHING like the chili peppers. Especially cool is his first album "Niandra LaDes and Usually Just a Tshirt.
He did it while trying to recover from heroin, so a lot of the album is unfinished and kinda fragmented. But it’s 100% emotion. Give it a listen, you’ll be shocked it was ever released1988… a band put out a 7" single on Limited Potential records called "I Am One"… I can’t remember the band name or if they went on to do anything afterwards, but man… they rocked…

Also, in general,another band that’s overhyped, but here they get no buzz, and at the risk of being killed for lsiting an emo band: Saves the Day. Nice…
ok, i’m gonna suggest y’all to check out the pernice brothers/joe pernice/chappaquiddick skyline/scud mountain boys. joe pernice is the constant in all of them. he writes the bestest, mellow/saddish pop songs ever. ok, well maybe not ever, but he’s pretty darn good at it. he also, in my opinion has a great voice, kinda sounds like colin blunstone from the zombie’s. the aforementioned groups don’t sound anything like dino jr, but they do have something in common j and co…they too are based straight outta south-central massachusetts.
actually, i just read that one of joe’s bandmates, thom monahan, has either produced or engineered something for j. sound familiar to anyone?
so, if you’re only into loud, distorted guitar rock (not that there’s anything wrong with that…), then i’d would just skip over them, but if your musical tastes are a little more diverse, definitely check them out.
The Dude-yeah,I`m into the Scud Mt Boys/Pernice bros./Chappawhatever(could`nt they call it a more easier name?)-great stuff.
I have the Massachussetts album by the Scud Mt. Boys-brilliant album;the story I heard about them is they were a Mudhoney type band called the Scuds and got tired of playing loud guitar rock,they used to jam acoustic in their kitchen and decided to go in that direction;Uncle Tupelo was turning alot of people on to country music and what can be done with it in post punk style.
The Chappa album has a woman playing keyboards named Laura Stein,she`s from near where I live and used to play in a local band here called Jale,they did two albums for Sub Pop,they were a really good indie pop band.

BirddogI haven’t seen them on here yet, so I’m going to suggest "spoon". All I can say is check them out. Judging by what everyone else around here listens to, I’m sure they’ll go over quite well with most of you.
I have Spoon`s most recent album-Girls Can Tell,has some cool tunes on it,I kinda dissed them the other day calling them Pixies rip off but they`re really not that bad,that recent album is`nt totally great but it does have some cool songs-Believing Is Art is a highlight.
Varnaline I forgot to mention in my last post,I love them!definite J and Son Volt influence going on,check out the video launch.com has by them.Big Tobbaco-another Joe Pernice project,I heard about it on the radio,I think it`s on a German label.
