Apparently it’s on!!!

No acts announced, although I think we can assume Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farell, and Dave Navarro will be there in some form.

List who you think either a) will play, or b) your ultimate list. [And tell us which.]

A reasonable band list:

Jane’s Addiction
Dave Navarro
Modest Mouse
Zwan
Nine Inch Nails
Radiohead
Tori Amos
A rapper or two
Sparklehorse
Placebo

bring back metallica!

god, i remember the last lollapoloza. it was a tradition for me to go, but this one was at a speedway for christsake!

hopefully they take your advice and get some decent bands. I doubt radiohead, though.

Maybe more of the new "hip" bands. The strokes, The white stripes, hopefully no emo!

Hey,

Heard a rumor that the Chris Cornell/Rage Against The Machine project is being looked at for the show. Not a huge fan of big shows, but hey if J Mascis & The Fog are included might just have to brave the crowds, mud, overpriced water and bathrooms that make cbgb’s br’s look clean to check it out.

I hate festival shows too but hey, this is Lollapalooza, and lets not bring CBGB’s into it, Allison.

After posting I thought – Strokes. I sure hope they’re there. Also, the RATM/Cornell would be cool.

I have a feeling Radiohead will be there (just a gut feeling) and prolly some emo’ers like Saves The Day or Jimmy Eat World.

Also, I think Blink-182 would go since they’ve never done a Lollapalooza in my rememberence.

Hey Jaron,

To clarify only thing I was bringing in about cbgb’s was my germ phobia related to well…the messy br’s

If J is on the list, will definitely attend. Liked your suggestions about Sparklehorse & Modest Mouse though. Flaming Lips & Mercury Rev would also make my list, along with Freeride…Jim Reids new band.

I doubt there will be many, if any repeat Lollapalooza attendees, excluding Jane’s addiction.

I know Mercury Rev already played there and I beleive Flaming Lips has too so I doubt they’d come back.

J. & the Fog would definitely be cool, but I have a feeling they wouldn’t play main stage which means I might not get to see them since I am notorious for getting smack dab up front on the main stages at these things and staying there all day.

Hey Jaron,

Guess I should have posted that would be my ultimate list Fingers crossed they get some repeat performers…including J

Right up front and staying there all day, YIKES…see that touches on my crowd phobia and my mud/br germ phobia all in one

Off to take some paxil

Mercury Rev was thrown off when they played years ago for being too loud.
I don`t think J would play it again,he had alot of tech problems years ago.

I `ve heard about the bathrooms at CBGB`s,pretty bad.I heard in the early days of The Police,Sting hated it,called the whole place a toilet.

I get the feeling Lolopololaza (cant spell) wasn’t such a great thing for DJ, since Murph left after it. I’d doubt that J would do it. Good list would be STP, Metallica, Pearl Jam (?) and the like. Doubtful it’ll be like that

Agreed… I’ll eat my hat if any of those play.

Here’s who def won’t and why:

STP – sick of festival tours; people at Family Values hated them
Metallica – ego too big
U2 – see Metallica
Pearl Jam – think they’ll never tour again, see also Metallica
REM – never tour big tour again
Pumpkins – broken up
DJ/J. Mascis – did it once won’t do it again
Malkmus – still upset over Pavement’s Lollapalooza mistreatment

Yeah… I guess your right, although I think they (STP) were kinda well recieved at the FV DC show i was at(where you there Jaron? ). Pearl Jam says it won’t tour until 2003 btw, which isn’t excactly never again. Most likely this will end up as: Korn, Limp Bizkit, Creed, Sum 41. Yay..

PJ – cool news.
Korn – been there, won’t do it again
LB – Farell has too much taste
Creed – yep, prolly will be there
Sum 41 – could be too

What about the Red Hot Chili Peppers? If any band would be invited a second time, you gotta believe it’d be them.

And for the record, I was not at any of the Family Values tour shows (only interested in sTP, and the rest would’ve made me sick).

I think personally that Randy Jane should play there. I dont care to sing and play in front of a few thousand people….but it somehow bugs me to sing in an empty room???? But, yeah, I know that wont happen, we’re not a known group
