Just guessing outta the blue here:

          German band: Kraftwerk
          New Zealand band: Bailterspace

Need something more to go on as far as the British band is concerned.

The Clean, of course (den Buck hits himself hard on the head!)

I’ve got the ‘God save the Clean’-tribute, with Pavement performing Oddity….

                  Yes,it is The Clean.

                  next question:
What was the name of the punk band Malkmus and Spiral Stairs was in before Pavement?
clue:it`s the same name as a GBV song.

                        OK Salami

In my reckoning, Pavement got together around ’90, so that would limit it to only one of five album/12" releases by GBV.

                        So, is it:

sorry that you spent time on typing all that, javro.
what I meant is the band name is the same as a GBV song title, not named after a GBV song.
Pavement was formed in 89,so you were close.
clue:it`s a song from Alien Lanes, don`t spend time writing up every song from it though.
I wonder if GBV knew that was Pavement`s old name or did they just pick a title randomly.

                                good question Javro,I don`t know.

the answer to my question is Straw Dogs.

                                here`s another:
what bands does Malkmus admire the spirits of?
just take some guesses and I`ll give more clues later.

No one guessed that last question,so I`ll give the answer:Silkworm,Royal Trux,Sleater Kinney,MBV,Bis,and Ghost.

Here`s a new one:who is the guy who directed alot of Pavement`s videos married to?
