GBV with special guest Mark Linkous (Sparklehorse) to play the local night club. How cool is that?
Actually, I’m not awfully familiar with GBV but I just assume they’re cool on you-all’s reccommendation, so any linkage anyone can throw my way, or song suggestions to d/l would be cool.
March 19, 2002 at 4:55 am #68513GBV are awesome live. I’ve seen them 3 times and was impressed everytime. The first time I saw then I only knew a few of their songs but went because I heard that they were good and they blew me away. Check out GBV.com They have a section for their past setlists going back until 1994. I suggest looking at what they played in their last few shows and listen to those songs. I believe that they just got through recording a new cd, so I assume you’ll hear stuff from that. They play a bunch of songs. They play roughly 40 songs, no kinding just check out the setlists at their webpage. Their shows last at least 2 1/2 hours. I saw them once play for 3 1/2 hours with 2 encores. They play songs ranging from any GBV cd to any Robert Pollard side project. If you like what you hear check out the GBV cd’s Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, Under the Bushes Under the Stars and Isolation Drills for starters. My signature Alone, Stinking, and Unafraid is a song from a Robert Pollard side project (Lexo and the Leapers) that GBV plays live. Have fun at the show. I wish they were coming around were I live.

When Allison bought Good Morning Spider I said that I like to hear GBV cover Happy Man,and here they are playing with Mark Linkous!March 19, 2002 at 11:29 am #68515The best part of a GBV show is Bob Pollard drinking a case of beer and babbling incoherently between songs. So much fun! In the new Blender Bob talks about how most bands have cool after-show parties, but for him the show IS the party. I might go see them in Cleveland next month.

If you’re not a fan before, you will be after seeing them live…
Gotta agree with Hit the Wine, it’s pretty funny watching them all get drunk on stage. They’re the only band I’ve ever seen that puts a cooler (with the lid ripped off), full of beer, on stage and continuously partakes of it…
Though I often wonder if Pollard even has a liver anymore.

March 19, 2002 at 1:27 pm #68517I don’t see how Linkous is going to fit with these roughians at all, but I’ll go.
Thanks for the advice on d/ls everyone.

I will post "something" about it, but honestly, unless they play SH material or I get a setlist, I doubt it’ll be of too much aid to you all.
