since this is a site of dinosaur jr fans, we should look at fans of other bands. namely, the most annoying ones.
dave matthews fans are usually more lame than annoying, but they still suck. but anyway,
1. guided by voices
2. morrissey/the smiths
3. john spencer blues explosioni think saying britney or nsync would just be stating the obvious (yes, more so than dave matthews).

April 19, 2002 at 4:57 am #69306Definitely GBV… I know because I’m one of them.
Actually, I’m a secondary GBV fan, but I know a guy who’s a huge fan, and he is a bit… animated.
April 19, 2002 at 6:36 am #69307I am actually a Smiths fan, but I do concur – I remember going to an old indie club when I was about 14, the Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh, round about the time that Shoegazing broke. Everyone in there was dressing either like Robert Smith out of the Cure, or Mozza – sticky tape on their NHS rimmed glasses, weirdo quiffs and gladioli hanging out of their asses. It really scared me that people would take that shit quite so far. I guess now you’ve got the Mazza Manson type freaks, who think that they are original, but it’s kinda ironic that they think they are being individuals, when all they are doing is copying someone else.
So….
Smiths
Cure
Fields of the Nephelim
Guns and Roses (beltbuckles, give up gun, prized from cold, dead fingers etc, pretending to like Jack Daniels – for fuck’s sake these kids were like 13 years old, the only guns they had shot potato pellets, and they would fill up JD bottles with apple juice and pretend to drink them in one).
Metallica
Def Leppard (tight black jeans, white hi-tec trainers)
Marrillion (no explanation required)Ben
April 19, 2002 at 10:38 am #69308Half Man Half Biscuit,
If you’ve not heard of them, they are a satirical band form Liverpool UK. some of their lyrics are quite funny once or twice.
Fans have a habit of constantly repeating them as if they are the funnies thing ever… Kind of annoying after a while…
April 19, 2002 at 11:01 am #69309I’m a Dave Matthews fan, but they never bothered me. I do remember being the only person at one of their concerts who wasn’t drunk, though.
My list
-90% of beck fans
-Weezer fans
-Moby Fans
-Manson FansApril 19, 2002 at 12:07 pm #69310Hey,
Hair Band fans…poison etc…more about the presentation versus the music…ick
Generally I find all ages show crowds the coolest, some of the 21+ shows I have gone to no matter who is playing are completely snotty. People just standing around, almost ignoring the band thats playing then complaining afterwards about the lack of emotion put out by the band…hmmm
All ages crowds just seem to have a better feel to them in my experience.Allison
ps still pissed at the young guy checking id’s to enter the bar area during the flaming lips show in minneapolis…looks at my id and says "Hey I didn’t think you were that old"

April 19, 2002 at 12:20 pm #69311Jazz fans of course;I`m not sure who`s worse the ones who are experts complaining about the quality of the solos or the people who have no clue about jazz but are there anyway because it`s a festival
April 19, 2002 at 12:21 pm #69312totally without a sound the freak manson fans that dress up all goth like their freak leader.
April 19, 2002 at 12:50 pm #69313Heh! Jarvo’s got a major point about the GnR crowd back in the day. He also describes them perfectly. I remember back in middle school, there was a specific group that did everything Jarvo listed above. They even gave eachother GnR names, depending on which member of the band they most resembled (and there was one guy who looked just like Duff! )
Too bad they’re all but extinct as this point.
April 19, 2002 at 1:26 pm #69314GbV? Weezer? Beck? You guys haven’t even mentioned Insane Clown Posse, Limp Biskit or their ilk. Sure my fellow Pollardites are annoying, but most? No way
April 19, 2002 at 6:07 pm #69315Fucking incredible. This is why I said that Mascis fans are the most miserable. You’ve started a thread actually rating the "most annoying fans". You claim that you are anti-label, and yet here you are calling Manson fans "freaks", Dave Matthews fans "annoying", and in general just tossing labels around willy-nilly. This from the same people who, when pressed for a definition of "indie", couldn’t/wouldn’t give me one; even though you all use it profusely.
Every time I’ve seen J, the audience has been full of whiny, socially-alienated-but-I’d-rather-complain-than-fix-it white boys who claim that Mascis is their hero, then proceed to tear down the quality of the show. Boys who blow their pot smoke in my face after I politely ask them to please not smoke near me. Boys who can only see the "depressing" or "sad" shades of J’s music, and not the aspects of joy, survival, wit, love, and charm. Boys who treat girls with cruel sarcasm and judgement, then complain that they can’t find love. People who aren’t even enthusiastic fans, but just there to earn their "indie" badge.
I love y’all but some of you drive me fucking nuts.

RosaApril 19, 2002 at 6:36 pm #69316So now you’re labling Mascis fans all toghether? How’s that being anti-label? I think Javro makes a good point about Manson fans. They don’t annoy me though. It is funny when they get self-rightous about their capitalist-whore of a leader when people try and disagree with him.
April 19, 2002 at 9:37 pm #69317I didn’t find the GBV fans to be annoying at all last week. They were very nice and friendly and started a few conversations about indie as a whole.
Pollard, fucking moron. Pollardites, good chaps.
