So Far….

Is there a stranger lineup this summer? Will Wayne be orchestrating the Modest Mouse set? Will everyone there for Cake and De La Soul end up very confused?

I think Isaac Brock freestyling with De La Soul will be kinda cool

Yeah I can’t believe that line up either Definitely gonna check out a show, not sure I will disclose The Modest Mouse info to a certain…

          Looking forward to it!!!

Read on Pitchfork that this is Cake’s big plan. They wanted to do a tour with different bands they dug. Should be cool, except they are skipping Pittsburgh Modest Mouse always hates us, too bad the Cleveland show in on a Wednesday

The Lips dont play in Pittsburgh that often either. Pretty strange considering a lot of the Coyne (lead of the Lips) clan is from Pitt.

For local Pittsburgh modest-mouse rip-offs / cover bands, check out ‘Cattle Trap’.

I have reservations about these multi-headlining bills. I saw the MABD tour with the Lips, Sebadooh, Robyn Hitchock and Sonic Boom and none of them played particularly well. A friend from Pittsburgh told me that Sebadoh got booed off stage after 2 songs

-Jamie, wanted a Speak n Spell after seeing Sonic Boom

I saw the MABD tour, couple nites in a row, I wasn’t impressed with Sebadoh either…they actually whined a lot between songs Loved The Lips though, the headphones deal was cool for one nite, wonder if they’ll do that again.

Bob Mould is opening for the shows in London, sounds like a better deal to me

                    Hey Allison,

Saw seBADoh on the MABD tour and Lou wisecracked that this was the first time Sebadoh played in Columbus in 8 years and everybody broke into cheers. Not sure if they were cheering that they hadn’t played here since 1991 or that they were finally back. Anyways they stunk it up pretty bad. Their setlist from that night had ‘Poledo’ as the last song, but they never played it. Only reason I know is that they had the whole video camera on stage thing, projecting onto the backdrop things going on (that the Lips used for their ‘phone it in’ drummer).

seBADoh…LOL God if they had done Poledo my head may have exploded…thankfully they didn’t play it in Minneapolis either

With you on the phone it in drummer though… Saw this lips film online, The Flaming Lips Have Landed, Wayne and his girlfriend talked a lot!!!! They kept saying what a wicked drummer he is, I kept thinking well get behind the kit again…PLEASE. I did enjoy their show, it was great with the videos and all, but really do prefer the actual band playing versus the taped presentation
