Subject: Happy New Year
Date: Mon, 31 Dec 2001Happy New Year Everybody! Hope you all had good holidays. I had a wonderful Xmas this year and couldn’t be happier. Thanks a lot for the letters. I just love getting mail. I went to Bakersfield last weekend to see BUCK OWENS at the Crystal Palace. He was great. John Doe joined us for that and after we all went to the bar at the Padre Hotel and hung out. I like Bakersfield and want to play there with Original Sinners sometime soon.
On that front, we have added another member, Jovian Kind, who plays rhythm and slide guitar. Now I get to run around more on stage. Jovian is a New Orleans boy but he’s been playing in St. Louis the past few years with the Honkeys and the Drunkabillys. The Sinners are all very excited because the songs are going so well with Jovian’s addition.
We are going into the studio on February 16th to start our record for Nitro. We are all really happy to be on that label. We’ll post some pictures and things on my site from the studio for all to see.
There’s a Nitro comp coming out January 22nd called "Punkzilla". We recorded "Birds and Bees" for that. AFI, The Damned, The Vandals, and the rest of the Nitro bands are all on it, too. No Sinners shows booked yet. But we’ll start playing again as soon as we get done recording, and we’ll be on the road, touring the States this summer. X and the Knitters are planning on doing some shows too, but I don’t have any dates yet.
My beer book is at the printers. It’s taking forever it seems. I think it’s the best book I’ve ever done and I just want it NOW. Thank you all for being in touch! Love, Exene
( I think the book will be a poetry book. Go to the poetry thread for an excerpt.)

Hi everybody,
We’re are back from Austin, TX. Original Sinners played on the
16th at the Red Room and Tower Records during the day. It was fun
and good to see friends that live there. I didn’t get to see many
other bands at SXSW but I caught Mooney Suzuki at Emo’s and that
was fun. The Sinners just played the Troubador in L.A. w/ Rollins
Band and Wayne Kramer. It was a benefit for the West Memphis 3

That’s a horrible story. I wish those boys well but I can’t seem
to wish them out of jail. They need all the support they can get.My new book “A Beer on Every Pageâ€

Hi there everybody,
Thank you all for joining my list and ordering from my site. The list
keeps growing and growing. There haven’t been a lot of changes to my
site but I’ve added a new store that accepts credit cards finally. So
busy lately, lets see.The Knitters had a great time on the road. We
played L.A., San
Francisco, Portland, Seattle and San Diego. It was nice to get back
together with the other Knitters and we were as corny as ever. Throw
Rag opened most of the shows and they were fun. We did have a glitch
here and there. Our van was broken into in Portland and we lost some
things but thanks to friends there our merchandise was found and
returned. Thank you, thank you. It didn’t phase us much though. We had a
great time in Portland that night. My new band Original Sinners, are gearing up for our tour this summer.
Our record comes out June 25th and we’re very excited. Nitro Records
has been so supportive and good to the band. They’ve released another
MP3, "Bringin Me Down" from the record on their website. So there are
two songs now to listen to. You can download them at
http://www.nitrorecords.com/originalsinners.htmlX and Original Sinners will both be playing all three Hootenanny’s this
year. We’ve done shows together before but not for a while. I just love
Hootenanny. My favorite year was with X and we got to play with Buck
Owens and the Cramps.Something weird: X is getting a cement square in
front of Guitar Center
on Sunset. The Hollywood Rock Walk, I think it’s called. That’ll be on
June 25th. I don’t know if I get to step in the cement with tiny
stiletto heels or not, I think we just sign our names.I’m doing a reading
this Saturday in Venice at Beyond Baroque. Keith
Morris and Iris Berry will also be reading.Dates:

VeniceThank you for joining our mailing list and writing and ordering books
and postcards and all. I do really appreciate it.Yours truly,
ExeneP.S.,
I did get her new book "a Beer on Every Page".
I like it a lot. There is a whole lot of the same art damage from X and also some great poetry inside. If you order any of her items, she signs them personally before sending them out. This there might be a time drag, but it is worth it.July 31, 2002 at 1:57 pm #70841Exena Cervenka and the Original Sinners, a nice article!
