Some horrifying things I came across today…

A picture of shania twain promoting her new album…she’s wearing a ripped up Ramones tshirt Sorry, thats definitely what I call misleading information, her music is miles away from anything Ramones related

Some lame ass canadians actually want sum 41 to appear in a remake of Rock ‘n Roll Highschool
Damn, what is up with all these canadians, they’ve been hypnotized by the most horrifying sounds imaginable

Pete Townsend calls Kurt Cobain pathetic in response to the diaries deal…please, the guy was a great guitar player, made some wicked music, definitely had some issues but Hey! who doesn’t

OK thats my rant for the day…

Is it just me or does Shania look like Michael Jackson in her new video?

Ted Nugent had some nasty things to say about Kurt when he died, but you expect it from him(by the way,a review of the Hellacopters I read in a magazine awhile back said that they sound like Aerosmith and look like Ted Nugent clones )

Kurt was a good stylist, not a good guitarist. Big difference.

Thanks for clearing that up for me malcom, but I think I’ll stick to my own opinion for now.

I agree Salami, she is getting kinda scary…
Don’t get the Ramones deal though
That Hellacopters/nugent deal, omg how far off can they get

…Haven’t read anything from or about the Kurt diaries. Somethings aren’t meant to be read, plus I hate lining courtney’s pockets.

A remake of Rock and Roll High School???
Why can’t they make new things and give up re-making perfectly good films that should be left alone to live freely and without the pain of lifeless redo after lifeless redo.

As for shania…

I haven’t the strength.

Just to quickly defend Pete Townshend, ‘pathetic’ doesn’t necessarily mean that the person is a loser. Pathetic actually is used to describe something or someone that evokes pity or compassion in the observer.

And really, if you’re reading the diary of someone who was married to Courtney Love, I think you’d have pity on that person.

Factor in the drugs, the health problems, the emotional problems, etc. And that he was basically a good person who went through a lot of crappy things. It really could be pathos in its purest form.

Thought I’d point that out. I’m sure PT didn’t mean to dismiss Kurt’s talent.

I understand that this is a touchy subject. But I find Courtney Love to be quite talented, and she and her band Hole (anyone remember?) could have been as big as Nirvana. Also, I thought she was fighting to keep the rights to Kurt’s material, and initially, probably did not want to have these diaries released. Plus, she has a daughter–Frances Bean. Does this mean anything to anyone?

priss,

I actually have been on a big Hole kick lately. I think Courtney is really talented- she’s the best screamer in the business, I think. She’s not even a bad actress. My problem with her is that she constantly acts out for attention, even when she has nothing particularly relavent or insightful to say. I’m all for exhibitionism and shock value, as long as they can be backed up intelligently. Otherwise, it’s just bad manners.

I was recently reading about the whole legal battle between her & Nirvana; she actually has a really strong case but she kills her credibility every time she opens her mouth. I think she even switched lawyers a bunch of times because they got so fed up with her inability to keep quiet.

As far as her publishing the diaries; I don’t really know what to think about it. She could be trying to win the respect of ravenous Nirvana fans, or trying to get money, or genuinely trying to share, or just pulling a pr stunt. I have no idea; I don’t know that much about it. But I have heard that Kurt wrote some pretty, um, revealing things about her, and if she’s willing to release that, then she has balls.

But anyway. Frances Bean (or as I call her, ‘Baby Kurt’) is an absolute doll, and I hope there is someone in her life who can provide some stability.

and I hope she can get on with her life without loads of hassel aswell

If I remember correctly, didn’t Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon tell the Sub Pop guys to sign Hole? Anyway, the diary thing is weird, but artistic people sometimes find allot of inspiration from dead hero’s mussing on life, and I would like to think Kurt would have liked that. I was a huge Nirvana fan in HS, and was really pissed about Kurt’s death. Hole is OK, but there are about 20 bands on KRS that do the same thing, and are more interesting. I am so sick of hearing about her fighting with the other Nirvana guys, not that I take the guys side or anything…

I think Thurston and Kim told Geffen to sign Hole,Kim co produced Hole`s first album for Caroline and SY were early supporters of the riot ggrl thing that Hole was thrown in with despite Courtney hating Kathleen Hanna.
I agree with LLD about KRS and other labels having great female bands that are more interesting then Hole,I think Hole are ok as well and have some good tunes.

I don’t like Hole (although Malibu achieved mediocrity)

I don’t like Courtney Love

I wouldn’t buy the Diaries, Although I’d rent them.

And I hope Francis Bean stays out of the public limelight and lives a happy life.
