Hey,

No I don’t mean those kind of thrills , I’m talking cool bands appearing on late nite tv

Sparklehorse is appearing on Kilborn tonite on cbs so set your tapes to check it out later. Looks like its a new show as Vince Vaughn is a guest, should be cool.

So if you hear about any cool stuff coming up on late nite or anytime actually post it here…

Got me thinking though, would sure be a thrill to see an acoustic song by J on one of the late nite shows Letterman should get on the phone and book him for when he’s in NY later this month…say the 15th

"Later", on BBC2, every friday night, and repeated on sunday night.

Tonight’s show included:

The White Stripes (2 songs, great!)
Muse (terrible, pretentious, ugly music)
Jamiroquai (booooooooooringggggggggg)
Super Furry Animals (first song okay, second song mwaahhh…..)
Us3 (okay, but was it live???????)
Thea Gilmore (solo, a nice and quiet moment…)

And a tip for Hansione: Garbage is on next week’s show!

Well hey Den Buck thanks for the tip, I actually get that right now for free. Will definitely check that out.

Sparklehorse were pretty cool, did It’s A Wonderful Life. Was hoping for King of Nails myself but hey pretty cool all the same.

Odd choice that he would do It`s A Wonderful Life but Mark`s a weird guy.

White Stripes=next big thing:I think they`re going to be a big indie sensation like Modest Mouse, that`s my prediction.
They pretty much already are, toured with Pavement and Sleater Kinney.

Hey,

Mercury Rev is on Kilbourn tonite (CBS) check it out…should be cool

SG, initially I was disappointed with that choice of song by Sparklehorse but after a couple of views started to like it more and more. Yikes that guy is tall

back when i was in high school i used to tape ‘120 minutes’ on mtv cause, you know, it was on from 12-2 am and i had school the next day. anyway, i have one 8 hour tape left from back then and it has stuff on it ranging from maybe 92-94. i was looking at it a few months ago and i happened to have some good or interesting stuff on there.

-theres the time when thurston moore hosted and he interviewed beck right when ‘loser’ first came out. beck would simply not answer questions, made noises instead, or took his shoe off and threw it against the wall.

-then theres that time when pavement showed up at the time crooked rain came out. steve and bob are intereviewed by that guy lewis largent, and malkmus acts pretty much like a dick. he answers questions in as few words as possible and spends most the time looking at the ground. largent asks him about the pressure of following up an album like ‘slanted and enchanted’, and malkmus says, completly deadpan, ‘some people pay a lot of money for pressure…’. later they played ‘stop breathin’

-possum dixon being interviewed as well. then they played one of the songs off their self titled album, but i forget which. i liked that single of theirs, ‘watch the girl destroy me’, but i never bought that album until maybe a year ago. so, it was cool to see them on there again.

plus, there are a bunch of videos on there, some cool stuff. i know i have the video for ‘little furry things’, ‘love will tear us apart’ and of course stuff like ‘cut your hair’, which is a great video.

Bob I was hoping they would play You’re my Queen or Nite & Fog, but hey it was pretty cool thing to see. They recently replayed the Sparklehorse so keep your eye on the shows they may repeat Mercury Rev, if they do and I see it will let you know.

BR always cool to find videos like that, I have some wicked ones as well…JAMC on Letterman when Jim Reid knelt down with his back to the audience thru the whole song. Letterman was hilarious, asking if there was something wrong with those boys, asking Paul to check with them. It was the song they do with Hope Sandoval…wonder if that had anything to do with it Best of course was J doing the Wagon on Letterman, Anton looked like he was going to die…fading fast d/t the wicked drumming…he just about couldn’t do it. Letterman was screaming and rubbing his ears after the tune, complaining of going deaf

No musical guests on any late shows worth mentioning lately so will go with a couple wicked B movies. Space Channel tonite and tomorrow are showing a couple classic B Movies, tonite This Island Earth 1955 starring Rex Reason…what a great name!!! Aliens seek scientific assistance for their ravaged planet, Rex is quite handsome, but his acting, well it just doesn’t live up to his name

Tomorrow, The Incredible Shrinking Man 1957, radioactive fallout has a disturbing effect on a young man

Remember these are B movies, probably small b at that but still pretty funny.

Thanks for that one, Rosa – just in time! Paul Westerberg’s new thing is supposed to be on Letterman April 29th. Not sure if they will be appearing as Grandpaboy or Paul Westerberg. Rumour is Dave Pirner and Tommy Stinson are part of the new line-up, but unconfirmed.

Wish he would get back with Tommy, didn’t like his solo stuff much, but sure did like the Mats.
