That’s evil. Encarta and Britanica .com do it and make life real hard for us students. That ‘no copying’ stuff is evil and it should never be done, so there <img>
March 11, 2002 at 7:26 pm #83167Hey
Just put this in the head of the html.This sounds like something you’d want to do. If
JAVASCRIPT IS DISABLED YOU CAN STILL STEAL STUFF FROM THE WEBSITE>
<img>
March 12, 2002 at 2:18 am #45305whereas it disables the ability to right-click and save pictures on web sites. anyone. anyone. anyone ?
March 12, 2002 at 11:18 am #83168thanks.
March 13, 2002 at 10:33 am #83169That doesn’t stop anyone who really wants your pic from getting it. They could always do a screen grab and cut it from there, or get it from their cache.
March 13, 2002 at 11:17 am #83170all that about screen shots and cache is true but i dont really care that much. found one that doesnt display that popup message and when you right click, the ‘save as’ is just greyed out.
this is my three Hundredth post.
March 13, 2002 at 7:43 pm #83171you know it snot my site and i dont really give a flying (you know what) bout people copying stuff. they can copy off me till the cows come home. for this particular case, i needed the copyright action in place <img>
March 13, 2002 at 9:35 pm #83172some cases can really use scripts like this an option… for example, an artist may want to try to protect their images from being stolen or whatever…
This method is FAR from 100% protection. it will weed out newbies and people that just don’t care enough to try to dig deeper than that right click option.
my favorite script of this type is this one that gives no alert at all <img>
another favorite being the right click contect menu as this also offers a real use!there are some cgi methods of protecting images though (which is still not full proof but a bit better than this) if your client is overly concerned with the protection of their art.
