      Hello

I was just wondering that does semiacoustic guitars work with normal amps or do they need a acoustic amp?

They can, just use the clean channel, you may need a buffer preamp though.

And if you aren’t careful, Scrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I use my Martin with my fender amp (my main electric guitar amp) and I dont get feedback untill I distort it….it sounds great with that amp. The guitar just has pickup to jack wiring…no preamp at all. I dont even really like acoustic amps.

I’ve tried using my upright with my bass rig, using one of those stick-on piezo’s. screeee. I had to keep the top pointing away from the speakers. I’ve found that you CAN use such instruments without a preamp, but you’ll have to eq out the wazoo.

            How’s the girlie, RJ?

Eh…..my Martin has a thinline inside the guitar. The only feedback I get is low frequency hums instead of screaching…sort of wwooooooo. hehe.I just run it exactly like my electrics……if it were more complex to use than an electric…I just wouldnt ever amp them….id only mic them. It really depends on your pickups. The stick on pickup..ive never trusted/liked those….im too rough on internal electronics, I dont need anything on the outside, (I even broke my cable the other day….the tip flew off of it). There isnt any of my guitars that havent had some wiring problems….some of them I got tired of wiring again and again so I ended up wiring them with guitar strings…..it sounds ssssssoooooooo much better that way, (I recommend the G). So my answer to the question is…yes, do it….if it screeches……turn a knob untill it doesnt.
