Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but maybe some of you want to know ….

The new album by Lou Barlow´s Folk Implosion THE NEW FOLK IMPLOSION has been released in Europe yesterday, and I must say it´s a mighty good one :D !
All of you out there who never liked Lou and his music probably won´t like this one as well, but all who love him as much as I do – you´re in for a treat ! Not as folk-popy as the last one, this one is pretty much Black Sabbath meets the Beatles. LOADS of heavy rock riffing, crooning vocals and a 70ish drum sound (really flat and dead). Sounds like Sebadoh and Folk IMplosion mixed into one band, you should like this one a lot !

Lou really put his heart into this one and what you get is pure passion

I’ll definitely take a listen… I liked Lou’s descripion on loobiecore about his ‘press tour’ for the new Folk Implosion album – there you can see that he’s really enthusiastic about the new album

Welcome to The New Folk Implosion!

By now you’re probably familiar with the Lou Barlow musical family tree. Long considered one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation, he’s also a creative machine, forming and fronting band after band. Dinosaur Jr. led to Sebadoh, that led to Sentridoh, which in turn led to Folk Implosion.

Back again; this time with new instrumentation and a new line-up, Lou launches the era of The New Folk Implosion with his latest release. The samples are stripped away and the music takes center stage.

For a limited time, The New Folk Implosion, is only $11.99 when you PREORDER it online. The album will be available on 3/4. Check out the free MP3 download for ‘Brand Of Skin’ and if you like what you hear we’ll ship the CD right to your doorstep!

                  Until next time, Rock On!

I’ve seen the New Folk Implosion yesterday, and I really enjoyed the show :)

hey, I quite liked the New Folk Implosion album, it was continuously growing with listening, but it was so totally different to hear it live… it revealed how bass based all these songs are – completely based on Lou’s great "lead bass", showing what a great bass player he is, even in that quite ‘lo-fi’ surrounding.
Most of the songs they played were off the new record, I expected that because somehow they’re a "new" band :)

Lou was a bit drunk, or played to be, or both. He was joking around, improving his (quite good) German :)
the first encore was just him on acoustic guitar, backed by some electric guitar and the second encore was all him, solo acoustic.

There were two supporting acts, first the band ‘alaska!’ from California, with the Folk Implosion guitar player, bass and a great female drummer. They were really wild, with some fine pop tunes within the noise, so it was fun to listen to them.
Next was Mia Doi Todd (who also played keyboards/backing vocals with Folk Implosion). She did an amazing solo acoustic set, I liked her singing very much, and her songs appeared to be very private and special.

The crowd enjoyed it, and we got much for the money, indeed :P :D
