This is inspired from the amazing line in Forget the Swan around 4:02.
"they fly at dawn"I think its a great part of the song that really sticks out, there are loads more in Dinosaur Jr/J’s music, but that one really gets me.
Any others for anyone else?
March 20, 2003 at 5:41 pm #92097-Towards the end of Little Fury Things, all that super distorted guitar while J keeps singing the chorus,it`s like it`s saying even when you have chaos around you you have to still go on.
I`ll think about more songs, good topic EN!
March 20, 2003 at 6:28 pm #92098Just a quick thought – i think we should keep away from solo’s, i think they are all special moments in the music
– anyway SG i agree with little fury things – i think the effect used on its own at the beginning really sets the song off tooMarch 21, 2003 at 8:54 am #92099-the "get me a bucket" lyric from How`d You Pin That One On Me

-the beginning of Start Choppin
-the beginning of Grab it
-the ultra reverb towards the end of Keep The Glove
March 21, 2003 at 9:14 am #92100"get me a bucket" YES
also, "for the kids" !
March 21, 2003 at 4:45 pm #92101This is gonna sound strange i think but ‘I’m Insane’ always gets me coz it reminds me of the piped piper

theres a part in Quest too, he kind of got this cool shaky vocal part on ‘why’ then a drum part and then it goes into a real powerful ‘Why won’t you be my friend’
March 22, 2003 at 3:26 pm #92102Love the ‘get me a bucket’ line as well
The transition from Blowin It to I Live For That Look buckles my knees every single time

great topic EN and great answer Anthony
my own moment is "there never really is a good time"
but also
"Can’t face the ants
The ones you left
Can’t trace me
Scobble down
That rainy sound
Gotta save me"in they always come
March 27, 2003 at 4:15 am #92106The first moment that came to my mind after reading the first entries (and I know that many more "moments" will come to my mind, but for now…) is a very passing one:
It’s the memory of two J & The Fog shows in late 2000, where Mike Watt sang the "It’s sad" and "I know why"-backups in "Sameday" and the great "I live for that look" respectively, and it felt so great to see the "cat" (as he’d probably put it) dive into J’s songs so head- and heartfirst.
So not a recorded one, but definitely a "moment" in J’s music!
And like I said…I suppose I’ll come back w/ some song/album moments later on ("…but I’ll speak to you about it later on…")March 27, 2003 at 12:05 pm #92107This is just one of the first that come to mind, since there are so many of them. I would have to say on "loaded" when J says "I know why you came here," and those voices come up in the background….ooooh, chills.
And the tympani on "not the same"…actually, just the ending to that song is great, it just seems to lead into "get me" so well.
March 27, 2003 at 2:04 pm #92108I like at the end of What Else Is New J says something and you can hear the others laughing,if anyone knows what he said please tell me cuz I can`t make it out
March 28, 2003 at 2:37 pm #92109I agree, cool topic!
the first drum beats of "I don’t think" at the beginning of Hand it over are still throwing me over anytime I listen to it.
oh well, there are many more ‘moments’, I’ll come back to this ….
