          Definitely a ton of pocket change… the riaa sucks :twisted:

          Interesting subscription service being offered by a guy from The Smithereens, kinda cool idea that includes a lot of individualized product, contribution to his music therapy work with kids, living room concert, DVD etc. 1200 bucks a year in twelve monthly payments. Can’t say I’d pay that, but its an interesting way for independent artists to offer their services directly to the consumer without the involvement of the recording industry as we now know it :wink: 8)

            Finally some good news, the RIAA lost a fight against Grogster & Morpheus friday…for now anyways, god knows how long it’ll last but whooohooo in the meantime. No doubt they will continue to pursue lawsuits against individual users of the above services :roll:

            Apple just opened its itunes site, apparently you can download a song for 99cents, burn it as often as you want…cool start :aliensmile:

                Regarding nice and handsome indie labels, evil major labels and the corporate sluts that wants to suck us dry. Some words and the chance to get some excellent norwegian elektronisk musikk:

                Yesterday (11.03) we here at Tellé got thrown in to the discussion about free downloading of music from the internet. It was a reporter from the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (More like the Norwegian Financial Times) who asked us what we thought about the fact that last year the Norwegian people downloaded music for 7 billion Norwegian Kroner? And they were wondering how this affects us?

                The Norwegian major labels don’t like the fact that people get their music for free, it is the same with major labels all over the world, I guess. They think that they will make less money. I heard that the Norwegian CD sales were growing with more than 10 % last year. So if they loose money I guess it is the independent labels that are growing!

                ‘Why?’ I thought. Maybe it is the fact that we don’t use most of our time and money to chase down these sites were you can download music, we focus more on the good music and less on the possible sale of the record. We are always in an attacking position. We constantly want new people to hear our music.

                Anyway, we here at the Tellé office download a lot of music every day, we respect the artists that we download, and if the music is good, we probably buy the Vinyl (or maybe the cd) anyway.

                We thought that we should show our gratitude to our downloading friends, to our music scene. So that is why we now publish 4 albums and 1 single release from Telle Records as free downloads, we even put out an easy-to-print artwork. It is now possible to download Bjorn Torske’s album ‘Trobbel’, Kaptein Kaliber’s 3 albums ‘Pop Ultra 1’, ‘Pop Ultra 2’ and ‘Pop Ultra 2b’ (previously unreleased!), as well as the 7" ‘I will always remember you’ by Fredrik Saroea (feat. Annie).

                So, on the behalf of Tellé and the featured artists, we hope you enjoy.

                  Thanks for those articles, great to see some good news for a change. Gotta love Indie labels (generally speaking :wink: ), artists keep more of their cash, music driven not market driven, making money…hmmm maybe the big labels should reassess their business plan :P

                          No doubt they’ll get some interesting messages back, maybe the senders of those riaa messages will get banned from the system for abusive behavior… :P :wink:

                          Lot of people will just turn off the IM systems, lame to the max… :slap:
