30th of april is traditional queensday (nothing to do with freddy M. :? ) in Holland with all kind of musical events. I’m off to celebrate koninginnenach (queensnight) right now, the rough pre-party and tomorrow by daylight the afterparty. First of may is going to suck bigtime…I have to work!
BUT…If you wanna visit Amsterdam try to do it on this day….it’s fun!!!

See ya, Hans " God save the queen" de J.

… you Dutch have your Royals and we Germans have witches and trade unions :P :D

on the eve of April 30th, people in some regions celebrate a gathering of witches that is said to be taken place on that night. Kids take it as a chance to make lots of nonsense. It’s called Walpurgisnacht

1st May is a bank holiday here as it is the International Workers Day, when trade unions organize traditional demonstrations (and some old school punks organize their traditional 1st May riot in Berlin  )

well, I guess most Dutch & Germans just celebrate an extra free day this week

    Here in Barcelona we can´t celebrate Koninginnenach

I´m also not going to Amsterdam tomorrow for the first time since i´m fifteen  (only 3 years ago  )

But at least there is another (swedish) party over here to celebrate the beginning of spring and a couple of us will wear orange and bring some Heineken to represent and make it a at least bit queensday over here.

Queensday was a lot of fun, not nearly as crowded as the last couple of years, den Buck has spent ‘the night before’ and Queensday itself in style, never too far away from a beer and some music (good, bad and ugly….   :P  , low point of the day must have been a close encounter with Dutch ‘Idols’ runner-up Jamai :slap:   )

…all in all, another day, well spent….

The sadness about missing queensday was (for a while at least) taken away by the dancers on a GUCCI release party. In the VIP area these girls were nice enough to make me not bother about the music that night which to me appeared to be ine song on repeat for 5 hours.

Our Victoria Day is on May 20th, don’t know why we still celebrate this but Hey! I work & get paid double because of the holiday so…

This festival sounds like my kind of thing…

                  Great British Beer Festival

Now thats something worth celebrating, rather have a national holiday like that than celebrating a long gone Queen  :P
