Here’s some great news out of the latest newsletter of dew process (J’s Australian label):
J. MASCIS… NEW SYDNEY SHOW ADDED!
Having barely landed in the country J Mascis is already announcing an extra show. Thursday 15th May at the Basement Sydney with special guests Jamie Hutchings. Tickets $28 + bf from The Basement Ph: 02 9251 2797.This time round, J will be travelling solo, no band, no tour manager… in fact… ain’t no one gonna be travelling with him, however, you can expect the complete J.Mascis experience but this time, stripped back and solo. Don’t miss it.
In addition to his national tour schedule, J will also pay a visit to national TV show, The Fat (Friday 2nd May) and guest with Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill on his Freewheelin’ show this Saturday 3rd May.
J’s latest offering Free So Free is out now, his third post-Dinosaur Jr. outing, is receiving exceptional response at retail and with great word of mouth coupled with brilliant reviews, people are discovering just how good this new release is.
WOW! Hopefully some Australians out there can catch the media appearances!!!

:aliensmile:Hope this means we can get the live stream from triple J, listening to it now but wonder what the time difference is
GMT + 10
…Great news
April 30, 2003 at 1:39 pm #93302re-reading the newsletter, I just saw that there are support acts announced for J’s Australian tour

Fri 2nd: SYDNEY, Gaelic Club, Support: 78 Saab & Ground Components
Tue 6th: PERTH, Rosemount Hotel, Support: The Fergusons
Fri 9th: MELBOURNE, The Corner Hotel, Support: Intercooler & Riff Random
Tue 13th: ADELAIDE, The Gov, Support: Tired Children
Wed 14th: BRISBANE, The Zoo, Support: Halfway & Giants of Science (acoustic)
Thu 15th: SYDNEY, The Basement, Support: Jamie Hutchings.. thanks for the link to the radio show, Allison! – I added it into my above post
April 30, 2003 at 5:45 pm #93303As there is a live stream of Triple J radio, I looked up the time zones

I guess the radio station is located in Sydney, but all big Australian cities besides Perth are in the same time zone.
so it goes:
General Time Standard: Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
Sydney: GMT + 10 hours
Central Europe: GMT + 2 hours…that means: Sydney is 8 hours in advance of central Europe, so May 3rd, 5-6pm there means May 3rd, 9-10am here (bummer! have to work at that time
hope they’ll have it in their archieves…)More cities:
London: GMT +1, the show should be on May 3rd, 8-9 am
New York: GMT – 4: Sydney is 14 hours in advance of New York, so the show is there on May 3rd, 3-4 am
…hope I got it right
May 3, 2003 at 10:04 pm #93304I watched The Fat, J came on at the end of the show, just him and acoustic guitar, and played Everybody Lets Me Down. It was damn good.
One of the women on the panel of The Fat, which is a sports panel program, said that Dinosaur Jr rocked, which is pretty cool.
I’m not sure how many people would have got to see J on the show, though, because The Fat isn’t a very popular show, it only has a cult following.
Also, he wasn’t on that Freewheelin show, David Gray was the guest instead, which was a shame.May 4, 2003 at 4:28 am #93305hey drawering, thanks for the info

yeah, I’ve also seen that the Freewheelin’ thing didn’t happen yesterday, I sent out some emails to get to know if it will be made up on another date

May 15, 2003 at 5:35 pm #93309hey Siana,
Here is a topic of some nice NZ folks who are also looking forward to the shows in Wellington & Auckland
Everybody who is lucky enough to be there – enjoy the shows!
… those of us who are too far away to be there are hoping to read some reviews
We have a bunch of fine reviews in the J live forum about the Sydney show on May 2nd and about Melbourne on May 9th (& some cool pics!) – and comber even managed to record the Adelaide show on May 13th

yeah, would be great to hear more about the shows, especially those in Perth, Brisbane and the extra shows in Melbourne (May 12th) and Sydney (May 15th)
