FreakScene received a message from J on Oct 6th to inform us about two gigs he was about to play with the Led Zep Tribute band Lard Zeppelin on Oct 9th & 10th in the Boston area…
read more about J’s message, the musicians, their regular bands and a Lard Zep lineup change here:
FreakScene member denn was so nice to post a review immediately after the Boston show, also Lard Zeppelin singer Ray Neades added his view on things …sounds like the guys had lots of fun on stage

A certain someone recently came upon some very cool news, J played in another tribute band back in August: The Growers, an Allman Brothers tribute band. Band members included J Mascis, Kurt Fedora, Scott Helland, Mark Mulcahey, Ken Maurai, & Don McAulay. They played at the Transperformance Southern Fried 2003 festival on August 27, a benefit for the Northampton Arts Council.

thanks to Jeremiah we found out about a very cool song by the singer and musician Andy Labrecque: it’s called ‘You Can Be Love If you Want To’ and it has been recorded in 2001 at J’s home studio, Bob’s place…. even more thrilling: J himself played drums & lead guitar on it!
On Andy Labrecque’s website, there is a link to download this and other fine songs!

The British radio station BBC6 broadcast the Dinosaur Jr show at the Brixton Academy 1994 on Wednesday, Oct 15th in their radio show BBC6 "Dream Ticket".
As there is the possibility on the BBC6 website to tell their editors which gigs/bands/venues we all want to listen to most and many of us voted for Dinosaur Jr a while back, it looks like it has worked great! Thanks to FreakScene member rambleon for the hint !!!
It’s still possible to listen online to the show on BB6

That radio show will be online for a few days after it has been broadcast.
