Buwhaha, I was on a learning Dinosaur Jr./J. Mascis, Screaming Tree’s/Mark Lanegan songs binge today…

Anyway, my fastest accomplishment took place today… learning Screaming Trees’ "Shadow Of The Season." This song blew me away when I first heard it and I told myself i’m going to learn that song one of these days, and today, I learned the main riff, and the first three verses of the song in what had to be under an hour, I believe.

I was so stoked to start singing along to what I was playing. haha. It was cool. Just wish I had a voice like Mark’s!

My fastest I think, would have to be a few weeks ago, my cousin wanted me to figure out how to play that stupid Crytonite song by 3 doors down and tab it out for her. I learned it and had it tabbed in around an hour. Very simple song. It took me I think 4 weeks to get Out There, then a while after that to play it fluidly. Thats my longest accomplishment.

my "fastest" accomplishment, as far as learning to play it was probably the bass part for "hot pink" by the Meat Puppets.that took about thirty minutes. Coincindentlly(cant spell), my "fastest" accomplishment for playing speed was also by the Meat Puppets, "Sam".(i did this version of it on my four-track with a banjo-voiced keyboard playing the vocal part. it was horrible, but it was fast..)

I do have the tab for out there…………but, it’s also on the net. The solos dont look right at first, but just…play them at the right speed and you’ll be ok. Also, there are some parts of the solo, like a few notes here and there that you’ll have to change. The second solo is there, untill J starts singing again, then they say its a flurry of notes blah blah….just screw around with it untill you find it…….I never did, mostly because at that point I’m singing, so I dont solo anyway. My voice would go with the pattern of the guitar. Just look on Harmony Central or on MattMans page for the tab. Its on the net man….R.J.

Screaming Trees… good stuff. I learned ‘Nearly Lost You’… it didn’t take me too long.
                  Mark Lanegan is amazing.
