Sorry kurticus, not that sort of vine..
In this era of hightech computers, robotic dogs, broadband and Paris Hilton on the handy cam this might be a totally crappy idea, but I thought I’d check if anybody was interested in an old fashioned vine.
      A vine works like this:
Someone has a bootleg he/she would like to share.
He/she then starts the topic "Vine: Sex Pistols – Kill The Hippies." With as much info about the boot as he/she has.
People who are interested in this boot sign up for the vine. Simply posting something like: "hey that sounds cool, count me in!" in the thread, no need for names/adresses. These can be PM’ed or mailed to the person over you on the vinelist.
The seeder(he/she that started the vine,) then sends the bootleg to the first person on the list.
This person makes a copy of the bootleg and sends the "original" to the next person on the list etc etc etc.
-there’s more to be written about this, but I trust you get the idea, plus I’m too lazy to type down rule suggestions etc before I know if anyone would be interested in this.

      Vines are cool because:
You get goodies in the mail.
Not everyone is on a highspeed connection, and thus can’t download stuff from dc++ hubs etc.
You get goodies in the mail.
Not everyone has stuff too trade, this way they can still get bootlegs.
Did I mention that it’s great to get cool bootlegs in the mail?

As I said, this might be a stupid idea, but atleast it’s out there. Not enough happening on the old ‘scene these days, so I thought I’d try something different :)

Getting goodies in the mail is always a cool thing

people have been mailing me boots for some time now.
i guess the tree/vine ends with me here, because i just upload them :)
i wouldnt have much luck actually going out to mail a package to someone.
but… willing to receive though :)

Looks like it’s be a rather short vine, norway-uk-canada, but then we’d just have to go for quality over quantity :D
I’m thinking of offering a CBGB’s vine, Ramones, Talking Heads and X-Ray Spex shows from CBGB, all taped by the great master The Grape, these shows haven’t seen much sirculation and are a great find. And perhaps also a Ramones show from 1990, just to have something to compare the 77 performance with.
              Talking Heads
              March 31 1977
              CBGB’s New York NY
              Ramones
              March 31 1977
              CBGB’s New York NY
              X-Ray Spex
              CBGB’s

                how did I miss this? :!: :?:

a very cool & generous offer, Robert!! I’d like to sign in if the doors are still open :P :?:

cool shows, especially the Ramones and also X-Ray-Spex

as I don’t have any shows in their original (non-mp3) shape, it’s a great possibility to start a little collection :)🙂

hopefully this vine is maybe even some inspiration for more of these in the future, cool idea to start a thing like that here!

That’s a big yes and welcome on in.
Hopefully more will join as well, for instance there’s this canadian jazz guru that I think should give this shows a listen :D

Good idea, but I’m not sure how to get it sticky after I’ve posted it, shouldn’t that have been done the first time? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Also, a Neutral Milk Hotel vine would be cool, as I know that at least king of carrotflowers, salami, buckmeister enjoy that band + the fact that everyone should listen to NMH :D Also, there’s a lot of mp3 sourced NMH shows being traded out there, so to counter this with some "pureformat" shows is nice.

Or you have the Grandaddy "THe Gathering Tape," which is probably the best they’ve ever done, with this great lineage
                      dat-cdr-lsd-fondling of breasts-running like hell when boyfriend comes-wav :D

I’ll post this here, see if anybody replies; if not, make a seperate thread…

Ive got about 15+/- Dino shows on Cassette tape, have transferred about half of them to wav/shn, and am tired of it   …

anybody who wants these shows, say so and I can send them to you..

only thing is, you gotta promise to finish the job and get them on Freesofree…

Ive also got 2 videos, austin and germany ’88 w/ a crazy setlist; if its right, ive never heard any of these:

                          1 Inst.
                          2
                          3 what did you say
                          4 dont let it wait
                          5
                          6 waiting for me
                          7 B6
                          8 bad times
                          9 inst
                          10 I will die

I really want to keep these vids, so you would pretty much have to send me a hooker to get them out of my hands

its really not hard at all to transfer audio to digital, you just need a:

1 tape player with a pre-amp- your standard stereo tape player, but not a all in one job, cuz theres no output other than speakers

2 a 2 rca to mini jack cable, radio shack has them for 6 or 7$..

3 software… for recording the tape to wav —- http://www.homepages.hetnet.nl/~mjmlooijmans/cdwave/”>http://www.homepages.hetnet.nl/~mjmlooijmans/cdwave/ its free for 30 days… 15$ to register

for converting the wav to shn

Plus, you don’t have to have anything to be on the vine, you just sign up for stuff you’d like to recieve.
