so everyone knows, fender is the guitar for j`s songs.

but what do you think about ibanez (rg) for playing this kind of music[most think it is only usefull for metal]?

see,i have to buy myself a new guitar, but i`m not really one fender fan.so i was thinking about buying myself a ibanez or maybe the les paul studio from gibson…….

some gibson/ephipone models tend not to stay in tune. The necks are very thin and weak,- they easilier get cracks ( epsceially Sg’s). If you get a crack in the neck, you might aswell throw it in the trash, cause it will have big difficulties staying in tune.

There are some older ibanez guitars, road series. I think they sound pretty ok even with clean sound. most ibanez are used to play metal, because, the mics sound best with distortion, and rather thin with clean sound.

I would have bought a fender guitar, from the eighties. before they become classified as vintage guitars.

When buying a guitar go to a bunch of diffent places. Try all kinds out from Ibanez to Gibson, Fender even some cheaper names and buy the one that feals and sounds right to you. That is really the only way. When J was first looking for a guitar he wanted a strat and ended up with a jazzmaster because then they were cheaper and the jazzmaster ended up defining him and now that guitar is in a museum. Its funny I had never seen him play a strat untill this year.

Ibanez RG’s are an Excellent value…. The biggest problem with them is the basswood which is a good tonewood but it is soft and suspect to dings. The High End Ibanez are great guitars… I have owned a couple Jems.. The Semi hollow Jazz guitars are such a good value you need to put new electronics in it but man a great guitar

Gibson is a classic tone monster. Depnds if you need the Gibson name or not there are other alternatives to Gibson out there that will please you but if you need a gibson you need a gibson…

Really it depends on how much you want to spend. More inportant for tone and sound is your amp. Guitars are important mind you but teh amp is more important. Guitars are more of an Image thing though and equally important that way.
