Hey I want to thank everyone responsible for this web-site and I was especially thrilled with the lyrics, I was wondering for fun if anyone might post a particular line which according to the lyrics posted here is different than the one you sing.( I know these are at times up for debate) Mine is from Tarpit, I will always sing "Please excuse it for getting High" and my oldest daughter now 9, has always sang "Stay and PAINT MY FACE" instead of "Pave my Fate!" However at the end of the song she swears J. is standing on his back porch searching for his cat named "Muffin" and saying "Hey, Muffin" over and over. Sometimes when we play this song it is now renamed "Stay and Paint my Face, Muffin"
February 18, 2004 at 10:39 am #99331i dont know, but it’s pretty slick having a 9 year old quoting dino tunes!
awesome song btw
February 18, 2004 at 2:56 pm #99332one of the reasons why there aren’t any official lyrics is, that J wants the people to figure out their personal lyrics. So it’s cool you have your own family version of Tarpit, Annastefka
🙂
can’t help on the "proper" lines, though.J about lyrics:
Quote:"I never really appreciated it. I simply never wanted to. I rather like it, if people connect it with their own words because they don’t get the lyrics. Then they rather find things, that have to do with their own lives. Therefore everyone likes REM, because people can invent their own lyrics. And if you write them down, then that isn’t any longer possible and that sucks somehow… " …from this german interview
February 18, 2004 at 3:33 pm #99333hahaha thats funny when i was younger i allways thought tarpit said "stay and paint my face" and just the other day i was listening to it with my friend in the car and i told him how i used to think that and he was like "it doesnt say paint my face?" I guess were all 9 year old girls.. haha
February 18, 2004 at 11:28 pm #99334Flying cloud, thanks so much for that J. quote, that is so true, We have many little festivals in Athens and Surrounding areas and my daughter has been the "face painter" for about 3 years now (she is really good) and my understanding of "please excuse it for getting high" is probably a pretty self explanatory interpretation.
and Kracked just reading your post while looking at that photograph under your name made me laugh so hard . I feel 9 at times.
February 19, 2004 at 9:51 am #99335I thought it was stay and pave my face, and at the end he says hate my faith, and it is please excuse it for getting high.
February 19, 2004 at 2:06 pm #99336many thanks for the link to those 2 german interviews … don’t know how i missed those the 1st time
… maybe it was the translation, but german interviewers certainly don’t mince their words
Quote:Because of this attitude he has been credited in the past to be an arrogant asshole. Of course we will never know for sure, but probably this evaluation is completely wrong.February 20, 2004 at 9:14 am #99337Yes, I second the thanks on those German interviews. Anthony, my 9 year old is a really cool kid but sorry to say not a Dinosaur fan
she thinks the music is too "Noisy" but likes the "Words" When I asked her for this post who her favorite musicians are. She answered "They Might be Giants" and "Beethoven" Still a cool kid!I wanted to write on about Tarpit but I am being pulled out the door. bye.
February 20, 2004 at 1:54 pm #99338My nephew thought Dino was too hard when he was a like 14. And Iwas playing like get me for him, but he listened to commercial pop and loved garbage.
February 21, 2004 at 12:19 am #99339Yes well Ammaringnyc, it is always important as a parent to remember ourselves at that age. I must say that at 14, I was sort of dumb. I thank God that one beautiful night I smoked pot (Thanks to students living with my Aunt and Uncle) and listened to King Crimson under my covers with the headphones on , I wanted to wake up and shout to the world what I had heard and I remember my Dad standing at the breakfast table looking at me and I was scared. I was afraid he knew I had done something wrong. I REMEMBER, this is the key, that those ages 13 and 14 are hard, I mean, I discoverd masturbation. I thought I had discovered something that no one else knew about. ( sort of a magic powers kind of thing) So I always remember those teen years are hard. Heck, my 20’s were hard. It gets better as you get older.. I would never want to go back.
