i guess this is news …

a few weeks back i went into the hmv on oxford st (the one closest to selfridges) + in their display cabinet is a large-ish b + w pic of j on the mic … as it turns out it’s part of a promotion of a new book (associated w/london’s alternative radio station, xfm) called the a to x of alternative music … i flipped thru the book + it seems to be a fairly decent who’s who reference book of alternative music … just thought i’d let everyone know …

btw, the pic’s in the book as well + must have been taken when j "hijacked" xfm in sept of 2000 …

a little blurb about the author :

Steve Taylor presents The A To X Of Alternative Music on London based radio station Xfm. Since its inception, Xfm has championed *alternative* music and played an important part in the recent resurgence of guitar music in the UK.

cool, that’s interesting news indeed :)
so the book is already out in the UK?
…would be great to hear more details, so if anyone here buys it, please tell us more about it! :D

Sounds like a really good book. I’m looking around right now for a cheap price (bit poor right now)
            Thanks for the info

even though the website above has the book listed as £14.99, i’m fairly sure hmv had it for £11.99 … so if you live near an hmv you could always try there …

as far as j hijacking xfm is concerned … the xfm hijack is a weekly program where an artist is invited in to take over the station + play whatever they want for an hour … unfortunately the xfm online archives don’t go that far back :(

On October 22nd, 2000 J had did the "Hijack XFM" show,
there are 2 FreakScene topics about it from that time with J’s playlist (the topics have been transferred from an earlier FreakScene bbs, thus the info who posted them has got lost)

                J on XFM

                J’s Hijack XFM Playlist

and here’s the book on hmv.co.uk for £11.99: A To X Of Alternative Music

…great to see you here again, expect nothing!! :D :!:
