new tanya donnelly album coming soon
4AD-LIGHTED!
TANYA DONELLY releases a new album next month.
Donelly was a major player in the 1990s US indie dynasty which revolved around the 4AD label, currently back in the headlines following the Pixies reunion.
A founding member of the seminal Throwing Muses with her stepsister Kristen Hersh, Donelly went on to form The Breeders with Pixies bassist Kim Deal before leaving after one album to enjoy mainstream success with Belly.
‘Whiskey Tango Ghosts’ is her third solo album, and is released by 4AD on July 26.

Tanya said herself that it`s ‘Chet Baker mellow’ so I guess even quieter than her previous album.I love Tanya and I`m looking forward to this new album
yeah, she’s pretty cool … when i was at boston university i had a photo journalism assignment where we had to take a pic of a famous person + my famous person was tanya donnelly
… she was at tower records on newbury st, signing the 1st belly album w/the rest of the band … she was v.gracious + cool about it + she let me take 2 pix … unfortunately during the developing the 1st few shots on the roll (aka the tanya pix) stuck together, so i couldn’t use them 
… how bummed was i ?!?

she`s always very nice on her message board answering questions from everyone,Kristin too oh right, that’s v.cool of her …

…i forgot to mention that around the same time i was living w/some people who were tanya donnelly crazy + they clued me up to this show she was playing at some club on lansdowne st in boston … it was probably the small one (axis) + it turned out to be her v.1st belly show which was w/o a full band + i was so enchanted by her songs + her performance that night … i have to say that after being at that show, i was a teeny bit disappointed when the 1st record came out b/c the songs were so polished + she had a full band then + i guess i just wished she had kept it stripped down + live sounding … that’s not to say that i didn’t like it … but i guess i didn’t like it as much …
