      Hey,

We’ve just published this interview with J Mascis. It was done on Friday afternoon, before his London show.

      J rocks!

      All the best,

hey vik, thanks for posting the link, the interview is a great read :)
good to read that this interview went better than many others with J talking so detailed about things he’s interested in.
I especially liked J’s description of playing the guitar like a drummer

            Quote:
It seemed so wimpy at first when I started to play [guitar]. So I started playing loud with lots of effects just to try to mimic the dynamic [of the drums]. Drums seemed a lot more expressive. Trying to emulate the feeling of playing the drums on the guitar – I guess that’s why I played it so loud."

this might be J’s approach to playing the guitar the unique way he plays it.

                Cool interview :)

I believe Robert Crumb did this cartoon featured on this album cover:

cool, great interview … i hope you don’t mind, but i copied the text here as well, so that when that webpage finally expires, we’ll still have a copy of the interview here …

Thanks for the kind words (everyone!).

                  The web-page won’t be expiring – we’re a busy site with 3/4 million monthly visitors – but hey…

btw, why did you chose to interview j ??

Why? Because I think I’ve been living for almost as many years having loved Dinosaur Jr as I did when I didn’t know who they were! It was too good an opportunity to turn down.

this may be a silly question, but did you get a chance to see the show the other night ?

It’s not a silly question. I didn’t go – I already had tix to see Velvet Revolver (!). I sent a reviewer – I posted that review on the other thread. Hopefully next time!
