without j mascis and dinosaur jr the 1990s grunge revolution would never have happened. tg asks the man who killed hair-metal about drugs, vintage guitars and why he can’t stand layla … words: henry yates

it takes tg four attempts to get through to j mascis. previous efforts have resulted (respectively) in the line going dead, whispered voices at the other end, and an answering phone mumbling at us to, “uh, leave a message.â€

Thanks for posting that! I own a PRS and now I feel like getting rid of it!

Harsh words towards EC, I agree with him though. I can’t stand the acustic version of Layla.

            Thanks 8)

Great interview, gotta love the Nirvana quote, it’s like people expect him to be bitter about someone elses success…not!

            my new fav quote..

"if I could still stand, I could still play guitar"

well, i like eric clapton + i like that version of layla … i think if he was to pick apart anything eric clapton’s done, it would be this wishy-washy balled-type of stuff he’s been churning out like tears in heaven :)

thanks a big lot for typing out the interview, rambleon!! :D
some interesting info in there, also for non-guitar players.

i had a brief phase of heavy drinking durin the mid-1990s, but that was about it. and i could still play during that time. if i could still stand, i could still play. the guitar is pretty easy to play in any state!

I remember we had a thread about it a while back, J & straight edge.
that clears everything up now, and I think it’s true: that was about it.

I agree about Prs-guitars, they look really terrible. They remind me of Joe Satriani etc.(Though im not sure if he plays one..).
