I heard a song from the new White Stripes on the radio and thought it was an old `70s glam rock song :? :P

I hope to check out that Son Volt retrospective soon.I`m glad they included that Townes Van Zandt cover with Kelly Willis.

Took the whole family to see the new STAR WARS, (I wasn’t into going but my son was like, Come on, Mom, PLEASE.

I think it was worth it.

I’m not one to form crushes on movie stars but after "TRAFFIC" I developed this terrible thing for Benico Del Torro, a mean like a terrible thing.

I thought, Gee, I wish I had married a guy like that, then on second thought I realized I had.

Then Russell Crow in the "Master and Commander" Oh, my God, he’s goodlooking, he is intelligent (umm, his character, in the film) he is in control.
What a crush I had on that hottie.

but now, after Star Wars, I have a new fantasy man, he’s smart and powerful, and steals every scene he is in…………………………………

Didn’t buy, ripped from the library system;

Uncle Tupelo: Anodyne
The Best of Django Reinhardt.

Should have some Neko Cas and the other Uncle Tupelo albums coming through interlibrary loan. Funnily enough, Belleville library only has one UT album. :)

Oh, and I bought a two-disc "Best of ’80s New Wave" collection at Goodwill the other day. Now I can hear Corey Hart, the Vapors, and Missing Persons whenever I want!

I heard that they used to go to the library and research old traditional songs(like the ones on March 16-20 1992 album)I assume it was the Belleville library.
Best UT album IMHO:Still Feel Gone 8)

What`s on the Django best of?there`s tons of collections on him

I saw that in the book "Learning How to Die." It’s strange seeing people you personally know being interviewed in a book, Darin Gray actually lives a few blocks from me.
My Dad’s a Belleville native, so I’ve been in and around the town quite a few times. I could probably locate the Tweedy house if I wanted to. Belleville has two public library buildings, the main branch and then another more on the south and east side of town. Both are in pretty old neighborhoods. Both have been open since the ’60s or therebouts. I’m pretty sure the main branch is where all the vinyl is, though, it’s bigger anyway.

I got the Django box set:

http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004S5WA/qid=1118343306/sr=1-14/ref=sr_1_2_14/702-9290293-5396039″>http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B … 93-5396039

Budget priced so you get a ton a music for less half the price of a normally priced box set.Django got alot out of Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti, two early jazz musicians from Chicago(they were regulars in NYC also in the `20s and early `30s;Lang died in 1933)Django gypsy-ized what they did plus the french influence of the band gave them a different sound. My mom thinks Django looked like Walt Disney

Not sure if a UT reunion will ever happen but you never know.

Are you near Spoon River,Ill.?Richard Buckner`s The Hill album scared the hell out of me about that place. You probably heard about the Spoon River Anthology book from the early 20th century. It`s all about that town and the many folks that died there, some fiction some not.Buckner turned the text into songs.
