Any one going to the Houston show on friday?
March 31, 2006 at 10:53 am #115391I’ll be there. Saw J and Co. in summer of 1993 in Nashville at lollapalooza. Unbelievable. Saw him again solo in Dallas a few years ago, which was amazing as well. He just walked up to the stage at one point and put a chair out and started playing. Most of the crowd thought it was a roadie setting things up until he just started going at it.
I can’t freakin’ wait. The reviews I’ve read so far look fantastic.

April 1, 2006 at 1:01 pm #115394The Houston show last night was crazy, it was the complete opposite of what I thought it was gonna be like. Other people in the forum were saying how the crowds were mellow and didnt do much but this was not the case. The venue was packed, mosh pits started, people were throwing beer all over the place, it was great. I loved it.

April 2, 2006 at 12:30 pm #115399Excellent show in Houston Friday night. For starters, Priestess ripped it up! Had never heard of this Canadian product before, but they were tight and have one amazing drummer. Definitely got me interested in checking out their album release. Didn’t care so much for Death Meadow. They came across a little bit too self-indulgent.
Dinosaur Jr., however, was just awesome. Their appearance is very unpretentious, but they bring it. I’m impressed by how well their music has withstood time. Interesting crowd mix between old diehards, and newer era frat guys. Loved the emphasis on the first three recordings, because that is not something you’re going to be able to see every day. They played a tight 90 minute set (including two encores). I’d definitely recommend this show to anyone who has it coming through town.
