Just saw an add for this my mate’s NME mag and thought I’d share it here:
Thurston Moore to Curate ATP’s Nightmare Before Christmas
By: Spacelab Research Staff
Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth has been tapped to curate this year’s Nightmare Before Christmas festival on December 8th-10th. And you’ll never guess who one of the first bands to be announced for the festival is! Sonic Youth! I know, it’s hard to imagine, but roll with me on this one.
Iggy and the Stooges will also play. So far Sonic Youth and Iggy and the band are the only acts to be announced, but they are to be the headlining acts for the festival. It will also be at a new location for an All Tomorrow’s Parties – Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead. It’s not Thurston’s first run at curating an ATP festival, either. Sonic Youth curated it back in 2002, plus joined with Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks to do it again in 2004.
He once called the ordeal "The ultimate mix-tape," as it is like creating a live performance based on getting your favorite bands to play
I’ve just got my ticket now, thought some of you might like to go too. Would be a dream if they got Dino to go too
, Sonic Youth, Stooges and Dino…… would be perfect.May 11, 2006 at 6:12 pm #115991More bands have been announced including The Melvins who I can’t wait to see

I havn’t heard of the others but i’m sure they’ll be interesting…http://www.atpfestival.com/events/line_up.php?event=102

May 12, 2006 at 1:05 pm #115992iggy and the stooges are still going strong. I saw them last week in my hometown Bergen in Norway. Iggy stagedived two times. during No Fun people were invited up on stage, to go wild and sing the chorus through Iggys mic. It was cool and we went crazy in front of the stage. people stagediving.. how fun isn’t that? I wanted to go up on stage but my pockets were full of coins and keys etc, cause I had no wallet to keep them in. would be a shame to stagedive and lose mobilephone and etc, but anyway it was fun to be part of the party. Mike W on bass, brought back memories from J and the fog in Oslo. Ron Asheton had some cool guitars I haven’t seen before. Seemed like there were three p 90 mics on each.what guitar is that? His playing especially with the wah brought my thoughts to J mascis. haven’t heard early stooges live stuff, but has the the live sound always been like that? Than I understand were J has found inspiration.
