I know Dinosaur Jr was working on a live DVD. I heard it was supposed to come out this summer. Does anyone know of a release date for this?
April 10, 2006 at 4:25 pm #116073from a recent interview with Murph…
TheApp: I can’t wait. Are there also plans for a DVD? I think you are one of the few major acts that still don’t have one.
Murph: Yeah the DVD is definitely coming out. I believe it is set for August at some point.
TheApp: What is going to be on it? Is it a live show, or a combination of material?
Murph: It is a combination. In November we did a special 10-day tour. That was two nights in Boston, two nights in New York, Pittsburgh, and Ann Arbor. So we brought in a film crew to get those and we also have footage from Europe and the festivals over there. I think it is going to be a mixture of everything but it is all going to be pretty live.
I’m hoping someone videos a live show soon, having a hard time waiting for the DVD to come out…
April 10, 2006 at 5:16 pm #116074Tell me about it. Especially since this tour may be it for a while. I’ll want that DVD to keep my memory fresh. Thanks for the update too.
April 11, 2006 at 3:24 am #116075Hi, you guys need to check out the ‘Frequenze Disturbate’ video on either FSF in low bitrate mpeg or as currently seeding on dimeadozen in full minidv glory. It is an excellent audience recording and really conveys the feeling of volume of a live dino show. It is keeping me well happy until the official DVD comes out.
April 11, 2006 at 11:06 am #116076I was at that show. It was great. My family was vacationing in Italy and I saw they were playing so I got off the flight rented a car, left my family and drove 3.5 hours through a foriegn country to get to the show and made it just as they were sound checking.
April 11, 2006 at 3:10 pm #116077Sweet! Thanks for the tip I’ve watching it all morning.
April 14, 2006 at 7:34 am #116078Hell yeah, man. Im going to be in the video for the shows in Boston. Plus my friends’ friend and his brother will be interviewed sionce they followed the band around on tour. Just like Deadheads.
April 14, 2006 at 9:37 am #116079I was hoping the Boston show at the Avalon from last July would be on there.. My husband and I were right at the front. Some drunk kept bashing my head into the guardrail. When he was finally removed, it was the best show ever. The place was packed and everyone was really excited. There was something about that night..
I remember a lot of cameras filming then and there were a lot of crowd shots. I am sure my bruised figure is somewhere on those tapes.
Yeah.. this DVD will be awesome.

It’s funny…..out of the three summer shows I saw (Noho, Central Park, and Boston) I thought the Avalon show was the weakest. Not at all a bad show, just not as focused and forceful as the other two. Central Park was truly amazing, yet I don’t recall having seen any video-ing going on, unfortunately. Both Irving Plaza shows in December easily topped all three summer gigs in my opinion, so I’m hoping lots of footage from those will make it on the dvd.
It’s bizarre how the story of what this dvd is going to consist of keeps shifting like the Bush administration’s rationale for invading Iraq: first it’s going to be a compilation of the summer gigs, then it’s going to be the Irving Plaza shows, then it’s going to be mainly one of the Middle East shows, then it’s going to be a comp of all the December shows, then……
I just wish they’d get the damn thing out already.
April 14, 2006 at 10:05 am #116081King Tubby: I agree about the just getting it out already.. I have heard at least three separate release dates for the DVD. I am guessing we have to forgive them though b/c those guys have been working their asses off touring. By the end of this whole thing, will have conquered the planet, save for those shows in the Middle East.. I am sure any DVD work takes back seat.
As far as the Avalon show goes, my husband and I drove from rural West Tennessee up to Boston to see Dinosaur live. Coming from an area where the shows are NOTHING like the shows on the East Coast, it seemed like the best show ever. I don’t have any NY experiences with which I can compare.
I did just see Dinosaur in Nashville and Memphis back to back a few days ago and the security was such a joke compared to the Avalon. It was just an overall different experience. Come to the South.. You will see what I mean.
May 12, 2006 at 11:10 am #116082Maybe if we just keep asking when the dvd is coming out, over and over, it will work like an incantation and a real, firm release date will materialize out of nowhere……..
I’m getting really effin impatient waiting for this thing……
May 12, 2006 at 11:35 am #116083I hear ya, I can only watch those videos on You Tube so much ya’ know. It will definately be nice to see something else. Hopefully the same thing doesn’t happen to this one that hapened to The Year Punk Broke DVD. That would suck big time.
May 12, 2006 at 11:44 am #116084Yes, but at least we have VHS for The Year Punk Broke. That is better than nothing! This Dinosaur DVD release will be surreal..
May 17, 2006 at 9:54 am #116085Maybe Murph will get some appreciation on the dvd. I want to see lots of him and his wonderful baldness !!!
