Since a Pink Floyd tour is more unlikely than me touring, my next dream reunion is Pavement. I’m not new to Dinosaur, but I am somewhat new to this board. I am a huge Pavement fan and I have always associated Pavement with Dinosaur Jr. in terms of being the type of band that didn’t give a fuck about being huge and that had the "slacker" thing going. Also, Stephen Malkmus and J have always caught shit for their singing styles. To me Dinosaur and Pavement are the "coolest" bands I know of. I just want to know if there are any of you out there that feel Pavement will go down this road at some point like Dinosaur has. Of course Dinosaur’s reunion would still be the most unlikely of the two considering the amount of time they were not together. In general are any of you guys Pavement fans and do you see any correllations between Pavement and Dinosaur Jr?
April 18, 2006 at 7:07 pm #116441The only big connection between Pavement and Dinosaur Jr is that if someone finds out you listen to Dinosaur, they automatically ask if you listen to Pavement. I don’t know why this is, but it has happened to me a few times.
April 18, 2006 at 7:22 pm #116442Dinosaur and Pavement doing "Fillmore Jive" would be fucking amazing.
April 18, 2006 at 8:12 pm #116443Never got into Pavement, but I’d really like to see a Swervedriver reunion, or at the very least see Adam Franklin’s new group (Toshack Highway) open for Dino after the new album comes out.
April 18, 2006 at 9:08 pm #116444Pavement reunion would be fucking amazing. As well as countless other bands (ie Sebadoh, The Replacements, Husker Du, Beat Happening, Meat Puppets, etc…)
April 19, 2006 at 5:57 am #116445When D.Boon comes back to life there’s gonna be a Minutemen/Husker Du/Meat Puppets tour. I’m gonna follow it around the country, it’s gonna be awesome.
April 19, 2006 at 2:40 pm #116446my dream reunion (which could be possible) is MY BLOODY VALENTINE.
April 19, 2006 at 2:46 pm #116447Screaming Trees
April 19, 2006 at 4:18 pm #116448It has to be Husker Du. Still one of the best bands I’ve ever seen.

Grant and Greg HATE Bob, Bob’s a surly egomaniac, and his post-Huskers Strat-based sound is nowhere near as massive as his old sound. That’s a band that should remain broken up so as not to tarnish their legacy. I only saw them once, but I cherish the memory — they were truly explosive. The show ended with a scorching version of "Eight Miles High," total catharsis. They’d never be able to replicate the energy that drove them at the time.
April 19, 2006 at 4:38 pm #116451There was a time in the not to distant past where the idea that Dionsaur Jr. or the Pixies would ever reform seemed like a childish fantasy. These reunions have not sucked. Bob and Grant played together at a benefit for Karl Mueller last year…
April 19, 2006 at 5:15 pm #116452Swervedriver reunion sounds great to me!!!
Would love to see The Jesus and Mary Chain back together again as well.
Can’t imagine the Husker Du thing happening, agree their live shows were amazing, its such a shame they can’t get past all the hate. After they played together for that benefit they both continued the hate game in the press. Have seen both of them solo in the last couple months, at least they still make music & tour occasionally…but I still haven’t gotten past Bob Moulds Modulate deal, that first song just about killed me

These reunions have not sucked. Bob and Grant played together at a benefit for Karl Mueller last year…But with Dino, J never stopped, never changed his sound or style, but refined and expanded it. The only question mark was whether Murph and Lou could keep up with him, which happily they have. Even though Mould’s songwriting has been mining the same stale groove for a long time now, he has basically repudiated the over-the-top sound and frenetic style of his Husker days, and kind of looks down his nose at those songs, too. At best, a Husker reunion would involve competently played, grim-faced shows with all eyes fully on the paycheck. Maybe if you never saw the band originally, that state of affairs might pass muster, but man, it would be pretty bleak. Time and personal growth helped heal the strife between J and Lou — time and apparently no personal growth have only deepened the ill feelings in the Huskers camp.
Can’t say one way or the other about the Pixies, as I fart in their general direction.
The Replacements, on the other hand, could pull it off. I’d like to see that.
April 19, 2006 at 7:30 pm #116454I saw my dream reunion when KISS reunited in 96 with the original members in make up. Fucking Awesome! It sucks now that Gene and Paul hired Ace and Peter imposters to tour with them.
