Anyone here have any reccomendations for any weird echo effects? Nothing specific, just anything that makes stuff sound spacey and weird, and preferably is really old and decrepid looking.

a good delay would probly be a deluxe memory man, but those are unreliable if bought new(from what ive heard) but if your after something just to fart around with in the bedroom, the marshall reginerator(i think) is the marshall delay, it sounds good, but also unreliable, but fairly cheap as delays come by.

I’ve got a Danelectro Reel Echo pedal. I was hoping for that ”Zuma" sound on the cheap. Obviously life’s not that simple but it sounds quite nice and tape echoish in a way. It’ll sort of do Eddie Hazel "Maggot Brain" and, um, (oh dear) Chris Isaak, but I’m not being completely fair, it’s actually relatively pretty versatile and definitely "spacey". It’s a big chunky seafoam green-ish pedal that looks cool but if you fiddle with the knobs while it’s working it betrays it’s digitalness. It doesn’t do that rocket taking off, muscle car thing that some pedals do, but it’s alright.Check it out. Fulltone make an exact Echoplex clone but it costs around a grand. Oh well.

ibanez AD9 is really good. its also what J uses.

and for spacey sounds, always check out flanger pedals.

flangeing something gets you as spacey as a horse and buggey. spacey ness comes from loops, and delays. now dont get me wrong i love flangers, infact almost every song i perform with my band uses my deluxe electric mistre, it just doesnt do that much. now when your just playing with very hard dynamics and useing a dirt box, it can sound very agressive with the right settings, just not to spacey. anyways, just look into a pedal with slap back delay, i think thats what your after….

yah ive been thinking of buying an old univox ec 100 echo chamber ther usally about 100-200 bucks *cant beat that for vintage* and you have to FIND tapes for them to work thou… kinda hard to find and you have to mod them with these other tapes anyways i know van halen used it on "eruption" he always had an interesting sound
they kinda remind me the fender reverb unit
id probably just use it for studio thou
                heres some info
