I used to play in a band called Montgomery. We called it quits about 4 years ago. We did this for about 8 years and played the pacific northwest area. We would get some airplay on local radio stations (college and commercial) and had fun while it lasted. It doesn’t sound anything like Dinosaur jr to me but thats ok.
Currently I’m writing new stuff for a kind of solo project called Spying on Birds. I hope to have stuff recorded within the next year -year and a half. I need to finish up my degree first.
You can find the Montgomery song at http://www.freesofree.net/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=732
Let me know what you think
April 20, 2006 at 12:07 pm #116556I guess you need to sign in first, then go to the forums, select Music by the Fans, and select My band. Sorry for all the steps I wish it were easier. :-
April 20, 2006 at 1:18 pm #116557I thought it was really good, reminded me of incubus abit in some places (not the singing).
If you can be arsed you could set up a myspace and then you could put up a few more songs…. that would be cool
good luck with your solo project
April 20, 2006 at 1:31 pm #116558I concur.
April 20, 2006 at 2:04 pm #116559I thought about a my space site but the band isn’t around anymore. I am planning on doing a my space site for my spying on birds stuff. Its a little more Dinosaur Jr influenced. I started recording demos a few weeks ago. Its going to be fun to flesh them out. As that gets going I’ll keep everyone posted.

Ah well, thats what I get for sharing. Its OK. I’m glad you liked it at least.

Haha
, the album Science was pretty good, but I really don’t like them at all any more after they released so much commercial shit. I knew they wouldn’t be an influence but a couple of parts in the song, one riff in particular, just reminded me abit of them. You don’t sound like them at all tho thankfully! What were your influences? Any grunge?
April 20, 2006 at 3:54 pm #116562Lots of grunge. In high school I was way into The Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and a bunch of other local bands you probably wouldn’t know. Remember though these bands weren’t BIG yet and I saw them at small clubs. They really got me into playing guitar again and writing my own shit. When I got the band together there was another local band (that was from my town Tacoma) that we knew called Seaweed. They were signed to Sub Pop and it was like shit if they could do it we can too.
Early on we were influenced heavily by Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumkins, Nirvana and such, but over time the sound just evolved. By the end of it we were getting compared to Sunny Day Real Estate, Seaweed, and some Emo bands. I’m not sure how it happened but it just did. This time around I’m going to be more concious of the sound and what / who it sounds like. The new stuff is a little more grungy, a little more Dinosaur. If I had to say what I’m trying to achieve it would be the songwriting of Greenmind, with the guitar tone of Out There, mixed with a little Mudhoney, Seaweed, and Foo Fighters. Whether it comes out that way is yet to be determined. I guess in the end I just really hope it sounds like me.

you guys should stay away from there.
I’m clean for like two weeks now, and I’m just feeling fine.If you have a band and need a website, register a domain name and talk to me or jeremiah, we’ll help you out.
April 25, 2006 at 1:58 pm #116564I’m trying to start a website up for my record label. I don’t know anything about domain names or anything.
