Thanks for posting this. I never got into Sonic Youth all that much, I’m not sure why. I listened to all the new songs and they sound AWESOME! I’m totally going to buy this when it comes out. Maybe I’ll pick up some of their older stuff too. Any suggestions on which to buy. I know Goo is good but other than that I’m not sure.

        Thanks again. ;D

          My SY faves…

Evol(1986)-a big move forward from their experimental days
Daydream Nation(1988)-over 70 minutes of SY magic
          Sister(1987)-rocks
          A Thousand Leaves(1998)-their finest `90s moment;lots of long jams
Dirty(1992)-the most produced SY effort but lots of good songs

Dirty was my first because I saw the video for 100% a said i have to get into that band. It’s a great starting point I think, Chapel Hill is probably still my favorite SY song. Daydream Nation is an amazing album that grows and grows, Evol and Experimental Jet Set are the other ones that stand out to me. Goo is my favorite though. Bad Moon Rising is dark and perfect for trippin ;)

So has anyone listened to these new songs yet? What other SY records sound like this one? I always thought they wrote just a bunch of artsy noise songs. This new stuff I think is pretty killer.

i’m liking what i’ve heard so far. to be honest, the last couple SY records didn’t do much for me. "sonic nurse" grew on me but ‘NYC ghosts and flowers’ and ‘murray st’. left me wanting more. as for my fave…it’s gotta be ‘sister’. the first time i heard catholic block as an impressionable 16 year old i was blown away…
