I’ve seen celebrity playlists all over the place and thought it might be fun to see some of each others playlists. Its always nice sharing great music anyway…. here’s mine.
1. Dinosaur Jr – The Wagon – The album Green Mind helped me get through a difficult time in my life, and The Wagon is my favorite song from the album. I will always like it. I sing it to my 4 month old daughter before she goes to sleep at night.
2. Afghan Whigs – Conjure Me – When I heard this song I thought that it rocked in a different way. Through the Afghan Whigs I began to appreciate Motown, and the rock they they created. Amazing.
3. Oasis – Wonderwall – They say Noel wrote this for his wife, I feel the same way about mine. I couldn’t have said it better myself.
4. Blink 182 – Stay Together for the Kids – I think this was the first song that ever made me cry. It brought back all sorts of ich from my teenage years. For me this one is not only a classic but therapeutic.
5. Seaweed – Card Tricks – You gotta love hometown boys done good. I think Four is their best album and this song rules, so why not.
6. Sunny Day Real Estate – Shadows – These guys made me appreciate that a song could be mellow yet rock at the same time. Diary is there best album in my opinion, and Shadows is one of the stand outs on the album.
7. Sparta – Collapse – I am amazed at their guitar wizardry. Truely amazing.
8. Sebadoh – On Fire – I have felt that way too many times to admit. Luckily it was mostly in High school, and that was a long time ago.
9. Nick Drake – Pink Moon – What can I say Volkswagen commercials rule.
10. Minus the Bear – I’m totally not down with Rob’s Alien – My friend Dave has totally invented a new way to play the guitar. These guys and this song in particular are amazing. Check these guys out its totally worth it.
June 15, 2006 at 11:19 am #118340Is this a general playlist, favorite songs, autobiographical?
June 15, 2006 at 11:31 am #118341I just did some favorite songs and why they’re my favorite. I guess the playlist could be anything really.
June 15, 2006 at 2:22 pm #118342Good thread

I like too many songs so 10 is not nearly enough room but I`ll give it a try…
Dinosaur Jr-They Always Come:"gotta save me" says it all.I was coming out of a bad time in my life when I heard this song.Dino`s music put me in another direction.
Husker Du-Eight Miles High:greatest cover song ever.Mould creates a ball of anger and makes it explode by the end of the song
Eleventh Dream Day-Dream Of A Sleeping Sheep:my theme song.My favorite band next to Dino. The slide guitar in this tune makes George Thorogood look like Don Ho

Genesis-Supper`s Ready:I never listened to alot of prog rock but there`s some stuff I dig. There`s a course in a college in California that is trying to figure out what this song is about!I don`t know what these guys were smoking but it did`nt help Phil Collins from going bald

Guided By Voices-Barricade:so many great GBV songs but this one is killer. The sound of the bass is wicked.
Charles Mingus-Meditation For A Pair Of Wire Cutters:maybe the greatest jazz piece there is.A roller coaster ride of tempos and Mingus pushing his band to the limit.
Son House-Death Letter:the greatest blues song in history.
Uncle Tupelo-Punch Drunk:the second verse is like the punk rock Woody Guthrie
Freakwater-Raised Skin:about a minute and a half in the tears start

Sandy Denny-Late November:’my favorite singer, pure and clear’ J said about her.I totally agree.I have no clue what this song is about but it`s incredible.
June 15, 2006 at 5:24 pm #118343I have alot of playlists on my ipod but they’re all huge so it’s hard choosing 10 but…..
Dinosaur Jr – Raisans – This was the one that stood out most for me on YLAOM when i first heard it and I really related to it. It’s my most played song to date with about 200 play counts
Butthole Surfers – Kuntz – This is the funniest song I have ever heard, it gets me evertime

Sonic Youth – Cross’ The Breeze – This is Sonic Youth at their best for me.
Alice In Chains – Would – After my Nirvana craze this song got me totally into AIC and is such a special song to me
Soundgarden – Burden In My Hand – This to me was the last grunge song and it’s my favorite of their last album
Mudhoney – Get Into Yours – It’s not a hard desision for me to say this is my favorite mudhoney track although i love all their stuff this is special
Nirvana – Sliver – Reminds me of when I was really young prentending to me Kurt infront of a mirror playin my air guitar

Melvins – Sweet Willy Rollbar – I don’t have a favorite Melvins track cos I love all their stuff but this definetly rocks
Smashing Pumpkins – Bury Me – The solo on this song blew me away, Billy Corgan is a really underated guitarist in my book
Screaming Trees – Alice Said – Just a beautiful song, never get tired of it
I realise theres alot of grunge here but it’s not all i listen to, thanks to lookin through this site i’ve been introduced into alot of new bands like Swervedriver and MBV and theres loads of other bands i listen to too. Hopefully one day soon I’ll find another band like Dinosaur Jr that I can really get into, has anybody got any recommendations that you think I may like?

June 18, 2006 at 7:35 pm #118345Dinosaur jr.- Little Fury Things- best way to start out a mixtape, and because there’s just lots of good memories tied to it
Big Black- Kerosene- living in a small boring southern town, this is an anthem of alienation
Pere Ubu- Final Solution- just one of the best songs i’ve ever heard
Beat Happening- Tiger Trap- because it reminds me of the one that got away(boo hoo)
Replacements- Little Mascara- or maybe Here Comes a Regular, or Unsatisfied, or just about anything they ever did. But i think i’ll go with this one
Neil Young- Tired Eyes- if you’ve heard a more emotionally worn song in your life let me know
Sebadoh- Hassle- because it’s one of the best songs i’ve ever heard
M.O.T.O.- El Stop- perfect pop song
Replacements- Unsatisfied- i had to put a second Mats song just because it was too hard to leave this one out.
Mission of Burma- That’s How I escaped My Certain Fate- the most cathartic, tense, anxious song i’ve ever heard. Makes me want to drive my car out of state everytime it comes on a tape
June 18, 2006 at 9:05 pm #118346It’s hard for me to make playlists, I don’t know why.
