Supposedly Johnny Marr has joined Modest Mouse. How cool is that?

August 16, 2006 at 2:27 pm #120767Thats really cool news. I’m really excited for the new record, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed it was better than Good News.
August 16, 2006 at 4:13 pm #120768you didn´t like good news ? why oh why sweet sailor ?
August 16, 2006 at 5:08 pm #120769My favorite so far was the moon and antactica, followed by the lonesome crowded west. The last one was cool, I usually stop listening when the bands I like start getting commercially successfull. Not sure why, I guess their not indie enough for me anymore once that happens. I still think Johnny Marr joining the band is way cool and can’t wait to hear the new stuff.
August 16, 2006 at 5:16 pm #120770Yeah, M&A is close to larger than life, but I still think good news is a great record. And I guess I´m fortunate for living in norway, no chance of modest mouse crawling out of the indie booth. Though I must say that great music is great music, no matter how many units they shift.
If an artist I like suddenly sells a silly amount of records I would be thrilled on his/hers/their behalf. Indie is in the heart, not in statistics.August 16, 2006 at 5:21 pm #120771I hear ya. I should be happy for hometown guys who make it. And I am, like I said I can’t wait to hear the new stuff with Johnny Marr.
August 17, 2006 at 3:11 pm #120772I don’t care that that album was where they really grew in popularity and had a hit song, that’s great for them. I just didn’t think Good News was as strong an album as, well, most of their other ones. Maybe it’s an unrealistic expectation to want them to make an album as good as The Lonesome Crowded West or Moon and Antarctica, I don’t know. The last album was good enough for me to be curious for the next one, at least.
