i see how his singing dosen’t seem right, but at the core it is what jazz is all about, sort of, it makes me laugh but in that pale sweet way that makes sense at the wierdest moments
It`s just he was so good at trumpet,the vocal tracks just don`t seem to work as well.There`s alot of humility in his singing though like Billie Holiday`s.There might be a movie someday,he had a crazy life that would go ok for a film.More to it than drugs and women and more drugs and women.He was`nt always the nicest guy though like Getz his personality mellowed when he got older.
i have to agree with likea……chet’s singing bums me out. however, if you have room on yer jazz vocal mix, put "eat that chicken" by c. mingus on there. i love that tune…..that is one of my fave mingus albums ("oh yeah")
