sounds interesting…
Quote:He’s not a fan of every act he records, but he’s looking forward to working with the Stooges, who he calls one of his all-time favorite bands. The re-formed lineup includes three original members — Iggy Pop, Ron Asheton, and his brother Scott — along with Minutemen bassist Mike Watt and Fun House saxist Steve MacKay.Albini has never met any of the Stooges — so far he’s just had a couple phone conversations with them — and only knows Watt casually. "I got a call out of the blue from Ron Asheton," he says. "They basically expressed a desire to set up and play live. We’ll see how that goes. I’ve yet to see the reconstituted Stooges, but by all accounts they’re playing like champions." In a recent Spanish-language interview, Iggy says hiring Albini was something Ron pushed for, in part because Albini has said he arrived at a lot of his ideas about recording by listening to Fun House. Iggy also praises Albini’s no-nonsense blue-collar approach, comparing it to a plumber’s.
One rumor that’s been following the project is that Jack White will play on the disc or produce it, but Albini has heard nothing either way. "I really have no idea. . . . There may be a point where an Edwardian carriage pulls up in front of the studio and Jack White and his footmen step out," he says. "By the way, I’ve never used the word ‘footmen’ in conversation before."

He`s the right man to produce them.I can`t think of anyone else better.
October 4, 2006 at 6:40 pm #122448I could do without the Jack White contribution, if anyone J should have a guest spot…
but yeah I’m excited about a new Stooges deal
October 5, 2006 at 4:48 pm #122449The Jack White deal sounds like just something to get people to buy it
Sadly not everyone knows The Stooges, well most will just say Larry,Curly, and Moe than Iggy,Ron,And Rock Action
October 6, 2006 at 1:36 pm #122450I second the notion that Jack White should be kept far, far away from the Stooges. J guesting on a Fun House-style freakout would be sweet, though. And it would give him the opportunity to stinkbomb Albini in retaliation for the shenanegans on the Bug tour…..

Albini should be a guarantee that it’s not gonna sound like some lame Iggy-solo-backed-by-annoying-heavy-metal-band shit…. good enough for me to look forward to hearing it

January 31, 2007 at 4:07 pm #122454Well Watt is responsible for the reunion but J definately helped carry it on having Ron and than Scott play on the More Light tour.
January 31, 2007 at 4:13 pm #122455Totally, I think J should get more credit than he does related to the reunion!
Figured out why I wasn’t feeling that song, I’ve heard it before on Telluric Chaos/live Stooges, thought it sounded like a rerun of a song…guess just a souped up version for the new disc. Looking forward to the tour

that’s not just ‘one star’, that’s 1.0 out of 10. Pretty bad even by PF standards.
