OK, so we all got more albums than the supreme chansellor of the largest music collection in the world. And it’s impossible to choose because it varies from day to day, and oh my god I’ve got indie cred flowing from my bunghole and I’m way too hip to answer this. I know, but where’s the fun in that ? Nowhere. That’s where. So come on, live a little, flirt with danger, answer me this:
which 3 albums would you bring to a deserted island in the pacific ? And why ?
Pavement – Slanted And Enchanted.
Because it’s the best album in the world. The Lux & Redux version has enough killer songs to make it the best album the year it was released, and this is pretty fucking amazing when we’re talking about bsides and outtakes.Neutral Milk Hotel – In The Aeroplane Over The Sea.
Because it’s the best album in the world. Saw, accordian and a bunch of instruments I’ve got no idea how to spell combined with blistering melodies and lyrics that wraps around me and plugs my mind into the turntable.Wipers – Is This Real ?.
Simply because it kicks ass, and you know we’ll be needing some of that in time for the coconut picking contest.January 25, 2007 at 3:14 pm #125292Oh, nice call on the Pavement. I’m actually ripping that as we speak. Weird…
Hellacopters-Cream of the Crap Volumes 1 and 2. I know this is cheating, since technically it is two seperate CD’s, but they are of the same title, so I’m taking the whole thing.
I would have to take Dino. I don’t care which one, prob Green Mind. Gotta have something to Get Me through being stranded on a deserted island.
Supersuckers-La Mano Cornuda. Uh yeah, the supersuckers simply rock!
Dang this is hard. Maybe swap out the Supersuckers for Death to the Pixies? Or SY’s Experimental Jet Set, Trash, and No Star? Would definately have to reach into my roots…dang, tough choices
January 25, 2007 at 3:16 pm #125293Dinosaur Jr – YLAOM
Pink Floyd – Meddle
Bob Marley and the Wailers – Exodus
January 25, 2007 at 3:17 pm #125294Yeah, I know -it’s tough as hell to choose. That’s why I jotted down the three first albums that came to mind, if I’d given it too much thought I would’ve gone crazy. That reminds me, I’ve got an ep with Steve Earle & the Supersuckers collaborating. Don’t think I’ve listened to it though. Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star is fantastic, I was listening to it in the car the other day and I had to turn it off because I couldn’t concentrate on the traffic. Right now, if I had to choose a dino album it would’ve been Hand It Over, yeah I know -lame. But true.
January 25, 2007 at 3:21 pm #125295DinosAUR JR – Your Living All Over Me
I couldnt imagine not hearing Raisans . Plus, I have to have my favorite band.
Love -Forever Changes
They are my second favorite band ever, and this is their masterpiece.
Jimi Hendrix -Band of Gypsy’s
I think Machine Gun is the greatest guitar song ever, an ddont think I could live without it.
The next album to miss the cut was The Bends by Radiohead.
January 25, 2007 at 3:26 pm #125296I feel dirty. How did I leave Nick Cave off the list! No Built to Spill, or Kyuss. Can we cut off fingers to take extra albums. You know, one finger, one more album?
January 25, 2007 at 3:33 pm #125297I would be willing to sacrifice a digit for another album

I know, why the hell didn’t I put there’s nothing wrong with love or perfect from now on on my list ?!January 25, 2007 at 3:43 pm #125299"Robert " wrote:which 3 albums would you bring to a deserted island in the pacific ? And why ?So we’re all deserted on the same island? Neat.
Stiff Little Fingers ~ Inflammable Material
Because nobody else has it on their list and it’s nice to have variety. The Specials ~ Singles Collection
Because I said so.I thought about bringing Joy Division’s Peel Sessions but this might depress people.
What if the cd player gets broken on our long lost voyage to this deserted island?

January 25, 2007 at 3:54 pm #125301Robert,
Forever Changes is the best album. Da Capo is real good too, but the second side is one long song that can get boring. I read that it sounded great live, but they didnt have the equipment or money to record it properly. The post Forever Changes stuff is dissed by critics, but there are some great songs there. Four Sail is probably my secodn favorite Love album.
Kurticus,
I actually think Built to Spill are better live then tehy are on cd. I’ve sen them 5 or 6 times, and thought they were great live. Did you catch them on a rare bad night? What is it about them live that you dont like?
January 25, 2007 at 3:56 pm #125302Ooooh fun one! Lets see………
Dinosaur Jr ~ Green Mind, my favorite album of all time. For me this album is all killer and no filler.
Seaweed ~ Four, this album is a classic. Arguably their best, I’ve listened to it for years and I’ve never once gotten tired of it. Not to mention I know these guys too.
Afghan Whigs ~ Black Love, Not sure what it is about this one. There is just a swagger on this album that isn’t on the others. Simply amazing. Again all killer no filler.
January 25, 2007 at 3:59 pm #125303Tom, I see you reckon it’s better than Love, which is amazing, so I guess I’ll pop round to my vinyl pusher tomorrow to get it. Thanks for the tip !
Kurticus, your breath smells like poo. I’ve seen them live, yes. Did your girlfriend dump you on the night of the BTS concert you went to ?
Are you doing the soulseek thing, or anything like that ? I’ve got some super trooper duper BTS bootlegs that you can get from me, and then you’ll cry and say you’re sorry for saying such things.girl, when did 2 become 3 ?
January 25, 2007 at 4:01 pm #125304Let me dig back into the "i just saw in concert" thread (or whatever it’s called) to revisit my sentiments on BTS live. Don’t get me wrong, BTS rocks and I also love Doug’s work back in his TREEPEOPLE days. But in concert, every fricking time, total crap. OK, I think I enjoyed them the first time I saw them, but other then that…
January 25, 2007 at 4:03 pm #125305Robert,
No problem. I have a bunch of Love stuff that I share on Soulseek. I dont have Da Capo or Forever Changes, on ss, but everything else. My username is tcm1. I’ll turn on the soulseek if you want.
Take care
