Just read this on Rolling Stone.com. J. jamming with Pete Townshend!
For the past year, as the Who’s massive tour has trekked across the globe one gigantic arena at a time, Pete Townshend has quietly played a series of intimate club shows with his girlfriend Rachel Fuller and whatever surprise guests they can round up. Last night they hit the 160-seat Joe’s Pub in New York’s East Village for the third time in just five months, alongside Lou Reed, Amos Lee, Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis and Rachel Yamagata. Most of the past shows found Townshend doing a brief solo acoustic set that consisted of his more subdued material such as “In The Etherâ€

February 24, 2007 at 7:14 pm #126024Yes, it worked. Pretty short part with J, but you should check it out.
February 27, 2007 at 7:34 pm #126025way to short J bit, thought they each did three songs then one with townshend.
love this bit…
Quote:Right after J Mascis’ epic guitar solo in See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me, Rachel Fuller said something like, "Wow, this is like Woodstock. I wasn’t there but. . . " My first reaction was, J Mascis is a spring chicken. Don’t let the grey hair and fabulous guitar playing fool you. He’s hovering around 40, and not much more. I figured she was referring to the old song, and the grooving rockin’ playing style of this most recent version.February 28, 2007 at 9:01 am #126026How far into the stream is J’s bit. It’s been an hour and I’m still waiting, can I fast forward through this thing?
February 28, 2007 at 9:36 am #126027Where is it at on the site? I just watched the attic jam montage and J wasn’t in it. Which link is the right one?
February 28, 2007 at 9:50 am #126028it’s the "TowserTV" link at the top of the page, not the "In the Attic" stuff.
it may or may not still be there. J comes on 3rd after Rachel Yamagata. They of course show the others playing like 2 or 3 songs each while only showing J do "Get Me" with the camera zoomed in on his face so you can’t see him play
Townsend comes out to play "See Me, Feel Me" and J totally tears up the solo. Townsend says "More ! More !" a couple times into the mic.February 28, 2007 at 9:55 am #126029Thanks Tom.
J jamming with Townsend was awesome. I think Pete was maybe a little surprised by J’s solo. Gotta love the Big Muff with an acoustic. Way cool.
It did suck that they just showed Get Me and had the camera zoomed in on his face, but that Townsend jam was worth the wait.
Awesome.
