So I was listening to Green Mind, and throughout the album it occured to me that it may have one theme through out the whole album.
I could be way off, but I see Green Mind as a concept album, about a guy’s thoughts about a girl, and telling the story of what the two had together.
I’ve heard rumors of some of the songs being about J and Uma, but I don’t want to even dig into that, because that could be taking me farther off then I already could be.Anyway, I laid out the album into the story that I think it’s telling.
It goes song by song.
This is how interpret it:1. The Wagon: Trying to get a girl’s attention but not working.
2. Puke + Cry: Girl worrying about things he feels irrelevant to, and it’s ruining
there connection, she needs to come down, down to his level away from the
worring.3. Blowing It: Doesn’t know what to say/do anymore. Blowing it, and wondering if
it’s worth trying anymore.4. I Live For That Look: The look of reassurance. Hope in the connection between
them.5. Flying Cloud: Spending time with her (maybe when someone else wouldn’t)
6. How’d You Pin That One On Me: Neither of them know where this is going now.
Both of them avoid facing it, and discussing it. Should he shy away? Should he
just leave?7. Water: It’s over now, and he sees her hanging around with other guys. He
hopes she’ll be alright, he’s wondering what she’s doing to herself now. He’s
still wondering if maybe he can get one more shot to hang around, he knows he
can’t get involved though. It causes too many problems.8. Muck: He knows she’s changing, involved with "a different kind of scene." She
doesn’t even relize what she’s doing to herself, but all she wants is more
attention, more guys. The two of them get excited when they see each other,
after it has been so long, but then they remember how they were when they got
involved.9. Thumb: How he feels now. Just bummed out and moping around.
10. Green Mind: He try’s to hang around with her group now. But it’s a new scene
and they’re different from him. He thinks they’re cool and all, but he can’t
relate. He just needs her.February 26, 2007 at 12:36 pm #126047I am good friends with Uma’s brother and I can tell you that they have met and casually know each other but never dated.
February 26, 2007 at 1:09 pm #126048interesting interpretation. I agree with you, except I don’t think it’s about any girl in particular. I also believe it’s not right to get wrapped up in meanings but to try to focus on experiencing the music in your own way. Of course, that’s hard for me cause I have no life. I’d like to attempt to sum up this album as you have.
February 26, 2007 at 1:29 pm #126049I like the interpretation… and agree with deepsIush
But I always thought of flying cloud as a song about a girl cheating on a guy…
"Were you riding the chair alone? Hey lady, where’s your friend?"Rode, riding…sex, right?
But the guy knows…
Maybe that’s why it ‘goes wrong’? – it kind breaks the album into two halfs….
On the record what does side B start with and side A end with?

Side B starts with Water
February 26, 2007 at 2:56 pm #126051Yeah agreed. Definetly splits the album into two halfs, especially if side B starts with water, because in my interpretation, that’s when it is offically over between the two.

March 25, 2007 at 9:31 am #126055Puk and Cry is about a girl on drugs "amphetamines, speed"
flying cloud is about a couple sking down "Flying cloud" the slopeMarch 25, 2007 at 5:22 pm #126056isn’t every Djr. song about a girl or the circumstances of a girl in someway or another? But that said that is a very good assumption on the songs…..another thing I notice everytime I listen to the wagon is how many guitar parts are really going on! there are so many leads going down on the verse parts and then the monster lead that stands out, but I love the letterman performance where he has the four guitar attack combo and the proper leads are being played in all the parts. Someone tried to say that the one guy was trying to outdo J during the performance but if you listen to the lead that the guy is playing what is in the recorded version, it just kinda lost in the mix. But J does smoke that lead in that particular performance. Thought I’d toss my thoughts in why we were on the subject
March 25, 2007 at 8:14 pm #126057What is a green mind?
March 25, 2007 at 8:54 pm #126058I’ve been trying to figure that out for a while.
March 25, 2007 at 9:24 pm #126059Green Mind represent like new growth?
March 26, 2007 at 6:46 am #126060I read an interview back in the day where J said the title "Green Mind" came from a dream he’d had about sticking a marker pen in his ear and colouring his brain green and that the song is about alien abduction and/or frogs.
