I just got the new album. It’s cool. There are around 3 or 4 rockers and the rest are pretty mellow.June 24, 2007 at 7:54 am #129943He’s apparently putting together a full tour for the fall, so you’ll likely have another opportunity. My copy of the album should be arriving early this week. I’ve heard a few tracks, and they sound good — full of the sonic detail he’s known for.

June 27, 2007 at 8:31 pm #129946Got the new Franklin today. It’s very, very good. It’s like Swervedriver with less amplification and on more pot. I’m getting pretty excited for the show on Monday.
July 3, 2007 at 9:47 am #129947The show last night was a stunner. If he plays in your area, by all means go see him. His band is solid, and his guitar playing is incredible. It was some of the best, most mezmerizing guitar I’ve ever heard. The set was all new stuff, except for one he said was "really old" but which I didn’t recognize, which leads me to believe that it’s a Swervedriver b-side from one of the few eps of theirs I don’t have. They might have played a Toshack Highway tune, too, but things have kind of blurred in my memory. It’s a mellow show, and they play at a volume that doesn’t call for earplugs, which was nice for a change because you can really hear every subtle thing he’s doing with his guitar. Go out and support these guys — they deserve it.
July 18, 2007 at 7:30 am #129948Good recommendation, King T. Picked up "Bolts" a few days ago – – mesmerizing (your word) it is. Sort of like Elvis Costello in outer space…

Cool. It’s a real grower of an album, too. Some tracks left no impression on me the first few times through, but now I can’t get them out of my head. Unfortunately, this seems like yet another great album that’s in danger of slipping through the cracks, if the lack of reviews is any indication.

Let’s hope this album doesn’t slip under the waves!July 20, 2007 at 12:44 pm #129951BTS, I haven’t heard two songs this good since the Pete Yorn singles I got. "Shining Somewhere" and "Sieze The Day" are perfect songs, and the track ramonesland is not so bad either. I really want to borrow free this release.
Adam Franklin’s tunes so far are great, really. I never even heard his other bands.

I think King Tubby is our resident Swervedriver expert…I’m sure he can recommend AF’s earlier stuff…

It’s nicely remastered, and gives a very solid sense of the band’s range. It’s stunning to realize just how much great, if under-heard, music they produced. Honestly, I ignored them when they were current and only got into them with the Juggernaut Rides release, after which I became a genuine fanatic and tracked down just about everything they recorded (they released a lot of eps with an average of three non-lp tracks on each one, and many of their b-sides are better than a lot of band’s singles).
July 23, 2007 at 1:08 pm #129954I’m going to try and get a copy of this album–since it seems highly recommended.
