Saw Dinosaur Friday night in Nashville. Can’t believe they had to open for the Black Keys–no offense, but can they not carry their own show anymore?

I think J’s management tries to get the band as much money as possible. And that means that aside from shows in major market cities, if there’s more money to be had opening for someone like the BKs in lesser markets then they’ll take the opening slot rather than headline what might be a sparsely attended gig in a small club. It’s all about the money. And they’re also trying to promote a new record to younger people who might never have heard them before. Honestly, I can’t fathom seeing them open for anyone, but they’ll do what they’ve got to do to keep going.

well said, and at the very least at least you can walk out and say "that was the best opening band ive ever seen"

I talked to Murph about opening at the Ann Arbor show. He was excited, and viewed it as an opportunity to play in front of people that might not know Dino.
