I fell down skateboarding last Saturday morning, Aug 11. Hurt my left leg and left arm. So I went home, thought I would sleep it off with rest, like any other skating fall I’ve endured. When I woke up the next morning, I was messed up. Arm was hurting a little, but my groin area was really sore. Couldn’t even walk. So I went to Urgent Care, which is like the ER. They told me I had a broken left arm and a pulled left groin. Gave me some crutches, a sling for my arm, some pain pills, two days off work, and told me to walk it off. Let me tell you, it’s pretty impossible to use crutches with your arm in a sling. My arm wasn’t that bad though. The two days off work came and went, (Monday and Tuesday), I still couldn’t walk right, and on Thursday, I went in to see a doctor for my arm again. And to hopefully get the doctor’s note extended for a couple more days. The doctor told me that I was in too much pain and walking too funny to have a pulled groin, so he took x-rays of my hip. He came back and said I had a broken hip and needed surgery asap. They took me to the hospital, and Thursday night, they screwed 3 screws into my left hip. This whole time, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and half of Thursday, I was thinking I had the worst groin pull ever, and I was trying to ‘walk it off’, like they said. They released me from the hospital Friday night, (last night). They told me that out of everyone they’ve ever heard of having hip surgery, that I was the earliest they’ve ever heard of being discharged from the hospital. Less than 24 hours after surgery, I was home. That’s where I am now, at home. Off work indefinitely, 100% disability pay from work. At least 1 month minimum off work. At least 3-4 months with this walker they gave me, maybe more. The walker has this broken arm attachment where I rest my arm on it, and I can tool around my house if I need to. I’ll need that until my arm is totally better. Maybe a couple weeks with the arm attachment. Doctor said in about a year, maybe, they can take the screws out of my hip. Here’s what my walker looks like. It’s in the process of being completely plastered with skateboarding stickers ;) If you have any skateboarding stickers, or any kind of stickers you would like to contribute to the walker, let me know and I’ll tell you how you can get them to me. I’ll be using this thing for a long time.

Speedy recovery to you, anthony. I’ve got a 4" square "Beyond" album cover sticker that Fat Possum sent to me – – it’s yours, if you’d like it.

ok, um, that’s pretty bad. Hope it doesn’t put you out of commission for too long. Get well soon.

I’ve got some stickers I can part with. They’re kinda dumb, but I like TwentyNothing, Satan Has Your Nose, Hey Starbucks Fuck Off Out Of My Neighborhood and I Love America. I need where you at and they’re yours.

Gosh, Anthony…I broken hip………..that’s terrible…………and I am so sorry they didn’t catch it the first time.
Be very careful with the pain meds……….right now they are a Godsend….but Juan several years ago broke a
part of his back and couldn’t get out of bed and walk for three or four weeks, it hurt to even turn in the bed to a new position, I’m sure it does for you as well. About Week three and half on pain meds he asked me "is this March or April?" (it was march) it’s one thing to not know the day of the week but the month of the year.?……… he stayed so high on meds that he was forgetting everything….he is the captain of our ship….I started to feel like we were going out into the deep ocean at night with out anyone at the helm….I got really concerned…..
We didn’t have a tv so he had to read a lot….but of course he would nod in and out and I would find the book on his face but Thank God…..it got better….and he was able to get out of bed again and shower and go to the bathroom on his own and move his body like before squat, bend, pick up and throw the baby like in my avatar but it was a very scary time. Pain and immobility suck.

I know you wanted to come home…..and not stay at the hospital.

            Get well soon.

I hope there’s someone around to help take care of you?? I guess Jon? God, this sounds so painful. How could they have discharged you from the hospital after only 24 hrs, are they nuts? I wish I could help you out but I’m too far away. I guess the only thing to say is that I hope you can recover from this in a timely fashion and don’t overdo it and don’t drink while you’re on meds. Please. PM me, if you need anything. :(

I still can’t believe that Anthony :( man that stinks

I have some stickers to send your way – possibly enough to cover that thing and some for the laptop. I’ll dig through some of my storage and see what I come up with.

                  get well soon!

Dude thats way worse than the groin pull you told me about. Its too bad that in this day and age they could’t have just given you a bionic hip or something. Screws almost seem barbaric when thinking of current technologies. Anyways rest up man and get well!

                    Take care. :(

I’m going to have to post another photo of the walker here soon, it’s filling up pretty fast.
They prescribed me a ton of percocets, but I haven’t been in any pain at all. I haven’t been taking any pills at all. Not a single one.
And Jonathan is here. Doing all sorts of things for me. Doing everything pretty much. Had Long John Silvers last night. It was awesome.
The doctor’s appointment is this coming Wednesday, and I should know some things then.

Hey, you could get good money for that percocet ;) My mom had oral surgery last year and they prescribed her Vicodin and she was like "what the hell am I going to do with Vicodin?" I said to her "I know a guy…"

Dude, that sux. I know a guy who broke his hip and shattered part of his leg during a dirt bike accident. It took him a long time to get back to his old self. Hang in there and hope all goes well.
